Timing's everything with this one. Joined in late June to qualify for the date expiry. Had three pay periods in July so my employer didn't contribute until 31 July. Account activated when the $$ hit it in early August.

No points yet, but the fees have been ticking over since June while the account was still considered inactive before any contribution. 😒

Why didn't you just make a manual payment?

I opened an account in late June. Paid $350 into it in early July. Approx. 4 weeks later, 20K Qf points credited. Rolled over into my main Super account about 4 days ago, and to my surprise, was credited $350.75 yesterday :) ...winning!

Yeah probably should have, but mistimed the pay period in June, by the time I realised what had happened I'm 5 weeks in.

I think the point of the question is why didn’t you just pay the $350.00 and save the time wasting getting your employer to change super fund contributions and then change back.

Wasn't much time wasted, I asked if they'd make the contribution and they said sure. All they did was add a contribution for the requested amount to Aussie Super, the rest went to my main fund as normal. Modern payroll is pretty simple.

Received points yesterday. A better timed co-worker who i recommended it to waited 3 weeks. 😏

Received mine on Monday too. Thanks for all who have contributed info on this deal.

I have done this 3 times last financial year. 350 personal contribution. Choose all cash option (lowest fee). Wait 2 months for 20K qantas points. Submit ato personal tax deduction. Roll over to hostplus. End result is net 280 rollover + 129 tax save (37%) and 20k points.

Ended up making 59 actually and 20k points

280 is net already of montly fee exit fees and 15% tax when submited ato form. I have done it 3 times this past financial year so 60k qantas points total.

You're saying you've availed yourself of this promotion three times to the tune of 60K QFF points?

Yes. Every 3 months or so.

Nice work. Now if only I could get them to stop calling me from the one time I signed up asking me to complete surveys or tell them why I left!

Does one have to call to close the account? I couldn't see a way to do it online.
No, after you submit the ato voluntary contribution form tax deduction and get a confirmation from aus super just roll it over to your regular super (I have hostplus). No need to call anyone
