Got a spend $900 for $20...

$400 I might consider, $900 no chance, as not overseas by 30 April, which is where my 28D normally gets used.

Just got this from 28 degrees card:

I will probably give it a go since I need to buy something with price protection anyway.

I got $300 get $20. But is put $300 in 3 transactions or 3 transactions that total over $300?????

I received a spend $500 get $20 credit. I obliged with a $501 transaction at a place that doesn't accept Amex.

MOA999 please do reconsider using the 28D card overseas now. Since the introduction of the 3% withdrawal fee my 28D card has been sitting at home while I travel witht he citibank debit card.

Since the changes I have been using 28Deg for hotels, purchases overseas, but Citi for cash.
Best of both worlds

Same here but I keep forgetting to top up Citi with Cash

A big warning for anyone who receives a limit increase letter from 28 degrees in the mail. I checked with several people on the FFA FB page and they assured me this would not be treated as a credit application for the purposes of my credit score. Given how ridiculously reluctant they are usually to give credit limit increases I jumped on the offer and they raised it from 3,500 to 6,500.
I was very annoyed to get my monthly credit score and see that it had dropped because this limit increase was treated as an enquiry! (ie a new application). I never would have raised the limit if I had known this because this is now stopping me from applying for another credit card for several months to protect my score.

It's not really surprising that they checked your credit - it would be irresponsible of them not to. The only way you'll get a card without a credit check will be from your main bank, because they already have a complete picture of your finances (including details that Veda doesn't have, like your actual income).

Yes, I'm struggling to think of a use for my 28D now. I used to use it extensively for getting access to local cash wherever I was. But now, is there any point to this card? I know there is no commission on purchases, but there are also no points gained on spend either - the margin difference must be pretty small

As cards enhance away, I am keeping mine because I think FX points are going to get more expensive. The Anex 2 PPD for forex is marginal for me, so it's prestige or nothing.

Once that drops a bit more will probably be back to the 28 degrees for oseas purchases.

Yes, thats a fair point. At the moment I feel like FX is about breaking even on my Amex cards, well, probably a bit of a loss on my side truth be told, but theres not a lot in it. However, the earn wouldn't need to change much to become a clear loss and then yes, you are right, better to simply forgo points altogether for a cheaper transaction. I guess its a free card anyway, no harm keeping it in the top draw waiting for circumstances to change.
