2am flight MEL - SIN

Hey, so I’m flying out of Melbourne for the first time and my flight is at 2am MEL - SIN
Do I check in at the airport at 11pm?
It just seems so late?
Will airport security still be open?
If anyone has flown on this flight I would appreciate the help.
Also the flight is on my 25th Birthday (cue the midlife crisis lol)

Checking in at the counter (if required) or even the service desk at MEL international T2 can be problematic.

Regardless of airline, expect a "computer says no" if it's more than 3 hours before departure (4 hours for A380 flights).

Ive always wondered what happens to the luggage while the arrival passenger is sitting in the Lounge?.

It goes to baggage services for both VA and QF and if you have a number they call you to find out what's going on. I've used quite a few excuses like not feeling well and will be down shortly or I've had to make an urgent call and will be down shortly.

@ZachBruce1 nothing wrong with what you've done but one thing to note is avoid arriving into MEL on last flight of the day/night especially if that flight is cancelled leaving you with very few options.

I swore never to do that again and fell for it again last month.

Not OP but on this flight soon. Asked Emirates over Facebook:

The check-in counter at the airport will open 210 mins before the flight departure. Additionally, we have Emirates lounge at Level 3, Satellite Extension, Melbourne International Airport, Terminal 2.

The lounge timings are as below - 1715-2045hrs (daily) 2325-0445hrs (daily)
