I received an email from Accor this morning advising 30% off sale. Going to Melbourne weekend of 5 May and have been looking at Accor hotels for that weekend for 2 nights. All available except for Treasury Mercure and MGallery down bottom of Flinders Street but prices are high. Even some Ibis are around $170 and Ibis Styles Victoria Hotel is around $220 a night. For that price I can normally get the Sofitel when on sale.

Got excited when I received the email but it seems none of the hotels are yet loaded with the sale rates. Only hotel that comes up when I click on the link and put in the dates is Novotel Glen Waverley at $129 a night.

Is anyone able to comment how long it takes for Accor properties to be uploaded with the sale rates?

These sales confuse the hell out of me. Think there are 3 different sales on right now.

I have been looking at Ibis Newcastle for 3 nights end May. Room rate appears to be $117/night.

- Stay 3 and pay 2 at Ibis Newcastle and total price is ~$350
- Free breakfast at Ibis Newcastle and total price is ~$390
- 30% Autumn Sale at Ibis Newcastle and total price is ~$350

Is it any wonder I ignore these emails?

The headline rate on the Accor site (orange on my browser vs black for normal rates) is the total price after discounts, divided by number of nights and rounded to nearest dollar.

Avg rate of 117 could include one night at 200 with very cheap other night(s). While frustrating, it is possible to find the actual rate each night - if your dates are flexible avoid the big one / choose dates with only the cheaper nights.

Still no Melbourne hotels have the sale rates loaded yet. When you click in on the accor.com.au website there is no banner for the 30% sale.

When you click on the link in the email with the 30% it takes you to a different site with the 30% banner but my account details are still there on to right hand corner. The web site name in the bar up the top (is that the browser bar?) is ACCOR SA. Again the only hotel that shows up when you put in the dates for the weekend I want is Novotel Glen Waverley.

Will try logging in again later today to see if the sale rates are applicable for the weekend i want in May.

Still no Melbourne Hotels for the weekend I want to go apart from Novotel Glen Waverley. Has anybody had any luck with 30% off sale in Melbourne?

I will probably take the 30 day advance purchase for Mercure Welcome at $161 a night. Frustrating when I have paid around $100 for this hotel in past sales and around $220 for the Sofitel on sale.

Another email from Accor regarding free breakfast this Autumn.

Ibis Newcastle is now $143/night. Unbelievable how the rate fluctuates with these promotions. Sneaky....
