The bookings I made in Y were 5,800 points each way and QF is quoting 13,000 points as below to request upgrade to J. IIRC, 13,000 points was what they charge for an upgrade to J from an 8,000 point classic reward (correct me if I'm wrong), and at 18,800 points for discount plus upgrade it's only marginally more expensive than the 18,400 points they want to book into a J seat in the first place.QF probably quite rightly feels they will extract poibnts [sic ] for upgrades to J on dom flights and the odd reward, seat as is so there's no reason to offer a discount.
Having flown QF a number of times now both internationally and domestically, I highly doubt we'll see Dom Perignon (aka Dom) offered in a lounge or on a flight in a sale or otherwise. Heck, I'd be surprised if there was a sale on Dom at Qantas Wines!Prob be another dom sale on at the end of the month.
We can just quietly do some discount SR runs using points. Alas, the DSC promo booking period will probably start on 23 JanWould be nice to tie in sweeteners for pc/pc+ members, such as allowing J or International redemptions
