Although from reading through that thread about cancelled accounts on FT it appears this was temporarily only and they were largely reinstated (in fact I wasn't able to find one account holder who did not have account reinstated) and they got to keep up to 5000 points. Doesn't always pay to be honest!!

Which thread are you referring to, PC are becoming increasingly intolerant to systematic rorting as evidenced by this thread where many account have remain closed:

I've spent the afternoon researching multiple threads from FT and other like forums ...

According to what some people say, anyone who has used a PC code they WERE NOT targeted for, is guilty of an offence, and SHOULD have their account closed.

How many of you are in this boat ( the ones that think I and others should lose our accounts over this Google Tool Bar promo ) ??

You asked for advice and got it, in terms of what might happen (only PC can say what should/will happen), from people who have been in this game for both a long and short time. Your choice whether you listen to it or not, and to learn from the experience.

What others are prepared to do is entirely up to them when it comes to risk versus reward, as it should be, and should they ask for advice I am sure they will get it :). But please dont complain when the answers are not what you are expecting or hoping for.

I do thank those who have provided their input.

See my last response on 'other' thread on same issue ...

Found the post on flyertalk.

Just got a mail from IC where they wrote that they have reactivated my account and leaving me some 5,000 points on top.
For all those of you whos accounts are still locked - don't worry I "earned" about 40k points through the quizzes and my account hasn't got canceled

PS: I never called IC, nor did I write them a mail - I literally did nuffing

Priorityclub is locking accounts after the QUIZ Game - Page 34 - FlyerTalk Forums

After everything I've read up on this, especially finding these type of references to people claiming 'big points', that PC do not really care about account holders racking up countless entries into their promotions?
So far I read about people claiming 40k, 10k, ( my 'minor' 5k ) and less, all keeping the points, and accounts re-opened.
I had no official communication from PC, other than an operator ( in Manila? ) tell me, that they can open my account right now - but on the first occasion, it was more of 'sorry, I don't know what has happened' type of response.

Was this 'account-locking' likely to have been just a technical glitch, and not an 'auditing' exercise?

Is the whole topic still a 'taboo', and should not be spoken about? ( I've noted comments from various members here, and other forums, where you would think they have gone close to 'dobbing themselves in' .... but really, how would PC or QANTAS or any other 'point-offering' body know who the hell you are? ( from a psuedo - even if it's 'close' to part of your real name ) Have the large organisations got the time and man-power, and would they bother to look into who is making forum comment about their 'reward products'?

I just received a 'survey' from PC. No mention about any 'event' ... no mention of any 'reward' or offer for completing survey. Seems genuine, but how could I tell if I'm targeted for some 'other' reason? ( to include being ripped off ) Yes, I know I should not enter my account details and PIN ...

Can someone explain if this is supposed to be a toolbar that attaches itself to Internet Explorer?

I am quite happy with the standard toolbar that comes with Internet Explorer and hate it when certain downloads try and sneak a toolbar download with checkboxes arleady ticked.

Im starting to wonder the same as you Gordo, My details re contact with an operator, no mention of any lock-out due to mischevious behaviour are the same as you. The reason given for mine when contacting an operator was that two different accounts had almost the same details as mine. Just gave my correct details and the account was reopened immeadiatly (while operator was still on phone to me)

In a separate thread which was started by Markis back in March (thank you Markis, it has been very useful) it appears that different codes are advertised for differing rewards. Does it mean that if PC do not contact you and give you the code we are "commiting and Offence" by using the code advertised and could possibly be accused of fraud in the eyes of PC

PC do have a record of locking extra accounts when there is odd activity, as they do for abuse of promotions such as the recent Chinese accounts of millions of points being lost after locking (they were running scripts of quiz promos) then cashing in points straight away.

As for a subject being taboo, what a novel concept for a discussion board, if it's not against the rules then it's not taboo. On the other hand if your naive to think these businesses don't troll the Internet looking for issues with their own program's, then your probably shocked to hear all those power sellers on EBay are being audited by the ATO and fined for undeclared income, both private and public organisations use it as a tool to seek out fraud and misuse as well as for marketing and sales.

The Internet is very much a public place, has always been that way.

No, they would have locked to accounts based on multiple downloads.

They do come down hard on some people - for example if you have multpile accounts. Those that have had troubles tend to go very quiet on the forums though.

I blame it on the bus.

That did more than just go quiet

Bound to happen where fools rush in where angels fear to tread, points are a currency that has been (and I suspect even more in the future) will be pursued in courts where they have been wrongfully taken, be it via a divorce, fraud or scripts.
