40 hours of Australian Luxury at One&Only Wolgan Valley

I saw this on Luxury Escapes on the weekend trying to find a nice place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary next June. It was going to be a (rescheduled) trip to Alaska but a potential wedding in UK in September put the kybosh on that.

The timing of your TR makes me wonder if this is a sign I should book....
Go for it! It's a sign!
Just reschedule Alaska.:)

Well, I just tried but it's the Monday and the Sunday before is not available even with a surcharge. The video looks amazing and would be perfect.

This is from the halcyon days of Newnes, just on 97 years ago. Bit late for those who want to go now. The picture theater was about a mile past the old pub.
One from the family archives. The family still has a house down the Valley.

That's interesting as it was due to expire. Still shows as not available on the Sunday. No go.

They do relist them for another week.

I'd give them a call and check on availability. They were super helpful the time I wanted to ask them questions.

Wow. Looks amazing.

Where do you pick the car up from and return it to?

I picked the car up from North Shore BMW, which was slightly inconvenient, but still worthwhile. I believe had I have booked it further in advance, I could've picked up a car from Sydney BMW which is much more convenient to the Airport.

What was the quality of alcohol and food like? Am doing a serious amount of overtime at the moment so looking for an excuse to splurge

I was really impressed. Food was fantastic. The menu is limited so I feel that if you stayed here a week the lack of variety might be annoying, but for the 2 nights that we were there it was very easy to find something we liked.
The basic wines which were included in the package weren't anything spectacular. Probably the equivalent to a $30rrp bottle of wine, however, they more than did the job. We splashed out one night and ordered a bottle from their wine list which was extra, and a nice Gamay was only about $80.

Very nice trip report.

Are those rates really per night? Wow. There's no way the treasurer will ever approve. ;)

Depends on which rates you're looking at ;)
I think the current Luxury Escapes deal is about $4k but that is for the entire 3 night stay. Still well worth it in my opinion!

100% do it! You won't regret it! Congrats on the impending 40th anniversary as well!

We had a cheeky look at that as well to see whether we could sneak another trip in next year. But like you found, no go for weekends. Really only a Mon-Thurs offer unfortunately.

I'd still try and do it if you can!

We spent two nights here a couple of years ago (before One&Only took over) and it was superb. We got a deal for the 2 nights from Hotel Club (now part of Hotels.com) and cash back through my company scheme which was nice.

Food, drink, atmosphere, comfort and, well, everything really were top notch. I highly recommend Wolgan Valley to anyone looking for that special getaway.

I'd put it on a par with Qualia on Hamilton Island but obviously in a different setting.

God, its gorgeous ... I want in, but it is well down the queue of priorities unfortunately :(
