It comes down to the value of your time and the value you place on what you are trying to achieve, obviously the best way is to maximise SCs as part of a planned trip by making slight diversions, for instance I often go to Darwin via Cairns and Adelaide from Sydney via Canberra, sometimes the timings are better despite the longer journey, recently I went CNS-BNE via SYD, it was cheaper than the direct flght.

Well I made it in the end. Just back from SYD-BNE-TSV and got the necessary 50SCs from that. Today I see that my status is GOLD (you're indestructible!!! - one for those who remember Spandau Ballet, I wish I didn't)

Final cost was $480ish - if I'd jumped earlier I could have had them for just over $400 as you can get OW SYD-BNE-TSV for $202 normally. The good thing (or the best thing) was in the end it will be paid for by the client as the timing was perfect for some work.

So I've made Gold with two days to spare. All on domestic red-e deals and also with virtually no flights between April and September. With a lot of flying to PER, DRW and TSV it all adds up. Thanks to all who helped. Sometimes it seems a little irrational to book SYD-CBR-PER but in the end those extra SCs made the difference. With all the new enhancements due I think it's been worth the effort to leave PS behind and become a SG again.

Now only 695 SCs for WP by the end of October...

Done!

And thanks for the congrats. I want to thank my clients for paying for most of my fares. Still I always did the right thing by them and got the cheapest fare I could, provided it was QF. I never saw enough of a difference using Webjet to justify a Vermin or DeathStar flight (except for OOL where there's no choice).
