No time to waste. Get on the phone and ask, and if the answer is not to your liking, get yourself booked on a flight immediately!

Thanks NM
Will try....

I thought i had enough but for some reason....
HKG-TPE with CX was marked as Discount Economy with only 10SC
instead of 20SC even though the Eticket receipt has Fare basis: Y

So my dilemna is whether to pursue what i think is a mistake
which may take time.....
It is a corporate travel eticket for which i had changed dates twice....
but the eticket clearly says Fare basis: Y....

Mention that info when you speak to them.

Nice one!

I wrote to them today, asking if they could extend my renewal date by a couple of weeks, so I would get 60SC's more to get to Gold. Mentioning that I would be able to retain gold in the next renewal period!

Comp. in... i also mentioned that i have several flights in Dec.
One already booked for this coming Monday....

Found out for the CX flight from TA something strange....
Eticket receipt said Fare Basis: Y
but the Fare Class was M ????
i thought Fare Basis & Fare Class is the same..... guess not?

Congratulations! An early Christmas present....

JohnK has mentioned my predicament before - on a separate thread.

I was 690 SC short of Platinum - with two months to go - So I hadn't made even GOLD. Believe it or not - got comped up to Platinum, two months in advance. This is after only achieveing 650 SC in the previous year and still retaining Plats.

Madly now trying to divert all travel from this year into next!

Automatic early requal of plat seems easier to come by when you fall a long way short of requalification. Get close to requalification and you need to justify it!

Good tip! Must keep that in mind. Not that I intend to miss Platinum requalification anytime soon.

This has been my first year as Platinum and have just checked my account and have been early comped to retain Platinum - with just 645 SC for the year so far. Assessment date is 31 May 07 so now have WP status right through to at least 31 May 08. Thanks QF :D

What are the chances of getting upgraded to gold, still requiring 110 status points by 31 May ? I made silver a few months ago, and this has been the first year I've flown so much.
Cheers.

I would say effectively NIL chance of being early comped from Silver to Gold.

You still have about 3 months to earn the additional 110 SC's to achieve gold (~35 SC per month). With a couple of SC runs you should easily be able to achieve Gold - and that is assuming that you will not be doing any other employer funded air travel in the coming few months.

Once you have Gold then QF are more likely to early comp you to retain that status.

Indeed as Shano says, Qantas almost never comp a higher status level without you actually making the mark. However, in the past Qantas has been reasonably generous with renewing the current status level for another year for people who have not quite made the grade for their renewal.
