5 SC short of Platinum....

does anyone know or think i have any chance of being comped to silver if i fall about 5 - 10 SC's short of the qual requirement by 31 Jul with my current bookings but have more travel planned in latter half of year? am QC bronze atm

if you are currently Silver, then your chances of being requalified for Silver are good. If you are currently bronze, then your chances are low. Qantas has been generous for requalification of your exiting level, but not for bumping people to the next level.

In my experiences I fell short by 10 SC, then did a flight 2 weeks later... e-mailed the FF centre, and they comp'd me up. YMMV

This has been my first year as Platinum and have just checked my account and have been early comped to retain Platinum - with just 645 SC for the year so far. Assessment date is 31 May 07 so now have WP status right through to at least 31 May 08. Thanks QF

I think they may have done a "status" check around that time Shano - I have the same renewal date as you and got comped around the same date some 200 SC short, but likely to get them within a few months

Congratulations to you both. I made the necessary SCs to retain WP quite early, and so did not get to see if I would have been comped. However, I am going to be approx 100 SC short of Partner SG. Does anyone know if they ever comp Partner SG? This is the first year where I could really use getting it.

I am currently PS with 180SC, and have a LONE4 booked that will take me to SG by about 3/4 of the way through. If I call and ask them nicely, what are the chances of them giving me SG before the trip so I can use the CX and other OW lounges etc? I am already QP so it shouldn't cost them too much.

Not going to happen... if you were already SG, and just falling short of requal they may, but they never do the other way around IME.

Not likely. Are you able to cancel the LONE4? If so, then the actual LONE4 booking means nothing....

5 SC short of Gold requlification....advice please

I think I'm going to be 5 SCs short of requalifing Gold at the end of October 08.

Currently, have 215 SCs
Planned flights
Aug: Syd-Bne return in Y (G class): 20 [G class is classified as discount economy, right?]
Aug: Syd-Mel return in J: 80
Sep: Syd-Mel return in J: 80
Oct (10-13):Syd-Dps return in J* Starclass: 200

which brings me to 595, 5 short.

I would really be pushed timewise to squeeze a flight in bet Oct 13 and 31st if QF did not comp me the last 5 Scs.....I was planning to email QF after my Syd-Dps SCs posts, and asked to be comped.

To be safe, I could just book a cheap return fare now eg Syd-Cbr with the current sale (still would cost me around $170 which I would rather not spend if I could avoid it!).

Your suggestions as to what I should do? Book cheap ticket now or email QF and asked to be comped the last 5 SCs in October, just before my year is up? and what are my chances? If it makes any difference, I've been QF Gold for the last 3 years.

PS: as the above tickets are booked by my corporate TA, I can't do fancy things like fly to Mel via Cbr

I think I'm going to be 5 SCs short of requalifing Gold at the end of October 08.

G class is Discount Economy.

Perhaps a 10SC flight (eg SYD-CBR or SYD-NTL) and catch the bus/train back?

I'm pretty sure if you're that close, Qantas will comp you though.

Since you will be so close I would make sure that I get the SCs and not expect QF to comp me status. Yes it may happen but there is no guarantee. Too risky espcially if you want to remain at Gold.

Since you are only 10 SCs short why not pay for a flight one way to CBR and use the bus coming back. Does Greyhound still have the $15 special to CBR?
