I'm baaaack!

It’s been nearly 5 years since my last Qantas experience and an entertaining exchange here on AFF. But a cheap Auckland-LAX-London AA codeshare First Class fare brought me back. AKL-SYD on the continuation of QF 4 from JFK, SYD-LAX in Qantas First, then LAX-LHR in BA First next March. Apart from the price, I wanted to try the newly refurbished A380, or at least that was the plan before I discovered that SYD-LAX today (and apparently most days) was a worn-out un-refurbished bird. And no Wifi of course.

My long day with Qantas as chronicled on Flyertalk.

Ouch!

Interesting about your comment about not being able to cut the sourdough toast under the avocado. Exactly the same comment was made by someone else here just a day or so ago.

His comment

The Avocado Toast was so hard that it was nearly impossible to cut with a knife.

I just had the avocado toast coming into Santiago and I would have to agree with him. It was impossible to cut the underlying toast with a knife. I tried first off and was pressing so hard down on the plate to try to get traction but I had to stop because I thought the whole table might collapse.

Although I must equally say that part of the problem is probably with the knife, which was as blunt as blunt could be. I ended up putting the tomato garnish to one side, picking up the toast and eating it as it was.

AnfI also found a number of the chairs in the Qantas first lounge in Sydney, terribly worn and grubby
