My guess is they got dispensation to go late but could only take off to the south over water, which looks like would have had some tailwind, so couldn’t be at full weightLooks like the incoming EK414 will indeed do the outbound EK413 (EK414 landed at gate 10 with EK413 also departing out of gate 10).
Interestingly, Emirates website has EK413 departing SYD at 23:45 doing a diversion and arriving into MEL at 1:10 with a 2:55 departure out to DXB. Must be short fueling in SYD to save time and doing the long refuel for the long slog back to DXB.
So had to just get fuel on for MEL where then they could fully load up
