Emirates Delays/Cancellations

Also on Wednesday 14, A388 A6-EVL as the 0200 hours DXB-SYD took off at 0256, so touchdown in SYD should be at 2257 hours and gate arrival at about 2302 hours, 32 late.

Wednesday 28 December 2022's EK406, the 1045 hours DXB-MEL (A388 A6-EVD) was airborne 61 minutes later. Thursday 29 arrival becomes 0744 hours, 49 minutes late.

A388 A6-EVR is on EK412, the 1015 hours Sunday 15 January 2023 DXB-SYD that took off at 1112, with Monday 16 arrival in SYD occurring at 0736 hours, 36 late.

On Wednesday 19 April 2023, the unattractively timed 0515 hours MEL-DXB (A388 A6-EOE) did not take off until 0657 hours, so arrival should be at 1438, 88 minutes tardy. This may result in many missing connections in Dubai.

An 0225 hours scheduled departure from MEL for a long international flight isn't my favourite time, but many may find it convenient as it avoids getting up super early in the morning, and may have good connections in this case in DXB.

On Sunday 11 June 2023, B773ER A6-EGY on EK405's recently resumed MEL to SIN run took off at 0358, so arrival should be at about 0928 hours, 73 minutes tardy. The second sector from SIN top DXB is scheduled for pushback at 0940, quite tight, but is estimated to be an hour later today. The plane had arrived MEL opn Saturday 10 at 1922 hours, 13 minutes early as EK404 from SIN, so not sure why this morning's sparrows' delay.

EK409 (the 0515 hours SUnday MEL-DXB, A388 A6-EEQ) was airborne at 0557 with suggested gate arrival becoming 1338 hours, 33 late. The winds in this direction may be adverse.

A6-EVL, another A380, is similar with its timetabled 0600 hours SYD pushback seeing takeoff at 0635 for mooted DXB arrival of 1442 hours, 32 behind.

On Thursday 22 June 2023, the unattractively timed 0225 MEL-SIN (EK405) was not in the sky until 0506 hours. B773ER A6-ENK should arrive at around 1040 hours, 145 minutes late, meaning many will miss connetions later in DXB if travelling 'two stops' to Europe. It had arrived in MEL last night at 2021, 46 minutes late as EK404, so a minimum turnaround time certainly was not to blame.

EK412, the 0750 hours SYD-CHC on Friday 7 July took off at 0954 with A388 A6-EVH. Arrival at gate should be at about 1432 hours, 97 late. This was partly due to the earlier leg from DXB arriving SYD 63 late at 0708 hours. The return EK413 isn't timetabled to depart CHC until 1745 late this afternoon, so in theory should be punctual.

On Sunday 6 August 2023, EK415, first of the morning at a timetabled 0600 ex SYD for DXB did not become airborne until 0751 hours. A388 A6-EVK should arrive at 1534 hours mid afternoon, 84 late, resulting in some of the tighter connections being missed. If one misses EK5 (the 1545 hours DXB-LHR), the next one isn't until 0230 hours (EK7).

EK416 diverted to Colombo (medical?), but now on its way to SYD, estim. arrival around 2115. B777 to turn around quickly 😜

Given light fog was predicted for Brisbane on Monday 26 August 2024's morning, that may be the reason EK434 (A388 A6-EOM) is diverting to SYD.

This flight is the 1035 hours Sunday 25 ex DXB, airborne at 1130. As at 0825 this morning, it was in a holding pattern above Cessnock. Scheduled BNE arrival time was 0625 hours so assuming it has an hour in SYD refuelling, perhaps it may arrive in BNE (if the fog has lifted) at about 1130 at a guess, 305 minutes late. This aircraft normally sits in BNE all day before running the 2100 hours EK435 back to DXB, so an on time departure tonight shouldn't be a problem.

On Saturday 31 August 2024, EK414, the 0215 hours DXB down to SYD that was airborne at 0316 with A388 A6-EUT should arrive at its gate at around 2235 hours late tonight, half an hour behind schedule.

A6-EVR, another A388 as EK408 is worse. This 0240 hours from DXB was in the sky at 0413 so arrival in MEL looks to be 2259 hours, 69 behind.

On Qantas' flight status page on its website, Monday 1 July 2013's QF9 from Melbourne to Dubai and London Heathrow is shown as delayed from its usual departure of 1525 hours to 0730 on Tuesday 2 July, meaning an arrival at LHR at about 2145 on Tuesday night local time if it manages to get away from MEL at the suggested time.

Tomorrow morning's flight has been altered to be QF009D - 'D' for delayed presumably - and is departing from gate 9, the same gate into which QF10 from LHR is due 10 minutes early to pull into at 0505 on Tuesday 2 July.

This looks like an A380 has become unserviceable. A two hour 25 minute turnaround for an A380 is achievable in theory but in practice may turn out to be tight, given that this arriving flight would normally sit in Melbourne until the 0915 QF93 departure to LAX, allowing four hours for attention by QF personnel.

How many have had to be accommodated in MEL hotels tonight? Was QF able to find sufficient rooms at the three acceptable airport hotels (Parkroyal, Mantra and Holiday Inn)? I assume that MEL based passengers were given taxi vouchers to get home and come in again (very early, say 0430) in the morning.

Does anyone know exactly what went wrong? QF has 12 A380s: they are tightly rostered.
Not looking forward now to my flt to DXB .Long flt anyway. Am on EK hoping no probs. . Just to give a little advice . Am going to s

Hope I do not have prob on EK flt to DXB using QF classic rwd. A little advice. Am then travelling to STN as is closest to where I have to go. Bought train ticket to Liverpool Street . Now told trains not operating due track works, limited bus service to Waltham Cross then suburban train. Bought advance tickets as fares so expensive in UK. Tried to transfer to LHR but QF advised full. Will try in DXB. I don't mind losing fare on train . Amazing as I called Greater Anglia before booking and was told all ok in Oct. Everything goes sideways no matter how hard I try to make sure all is ok. Used to be a top travel agent and worked for SQ and Varig.( Those who knew them) . I rarely complain but am just an unlucky person. Coming back on QR with a break on DOH.

Never had probs in earlier days, do not consider travel anymore a pleasure for many years. Remember when pax were treated well re competition. Now only one EU airline to SYD. BA. loved LH & UT .
Never liked BA.

On Monday 9 September, EK408 (A388 A6-EUS) was the 0240 hours from DXB to MEL airborne at 0332 hours. Arrival should be shortly, at 2233, 33 late.

Tuesday 10 September's EK430 (B773ER A6-EPY, the 0230 hours DXB-BNE) was in the sky at 0337 this morning. Gate arrival should be roughly 2305 hours late tonight, 45 behind.

EK420 with A388 A6-EEK is the 0245 hours DXB down to PER airborne today at 0333 hours: arrival should be around the 1806 hours mark, 31 minutes behind schedule.

In more on 10 September, the soon to cease (although we don't know the exact date) EK404 from SIN to MEL, the 1025 hours airborne at 1133 with B773ER a^-EGJ, is arriving at 2005, half an hour behind the timetable.

A388 A6-EEF on EK416, Thursday 12 September's 2130 hours mid evening DXB to SYD was not in the sky until 0021 hours this morning, Friday 13. SYD arrival should be at 1941, 141 minutes late, delaying the returning 2010 hours scheduled EK417 that's been altered to nominally depart at 2125.

Another A380, A6-EOG is on the 0245 hours DXB down to PER in the sky at 0347 hours. EK420 should arrive 50 minutes late at 1825 in the early evening.

EK416 (2130 hours DXB-SYD on Friday 13 September) was airborne at 2229 hours so arrival for A388 A6-EEH on Saturday 14 looks to be 1758 hours, 38 late.

EK416 was again late on Monday 16 SEptember, arriving SYD (ex DXB) at 1851 hours, 91 minutes late with A388 A6-EOD.

The scheduled returning 2010 hours EK417 (to DXB) was yet to take off as at 2047 hours.

UPDATE: EK417 was airborne at 2148 hours so Tuesday 17 arrival at DXB should be 0534 hours, 64 behind.
