54 Days on the Moon

Now you may remember I mentioned a young English couple I met at Carcassonne. Well I turned around after taking the above picture and there they were. He was lining up a picture and noted he was aiming at a statue which featured a naked woman's derriere. So I said hello to his partner and told her to keep an eye on him and what he found interesting. So a little chat and alaugh but then I only just got back to our bus on time.

We were then let off the bus for free time at the shopping centre or just to wander. We just wandered.

The night's red wine. They also have the Syrah from this vineyard in Sonoma. I liked it.


Mrsdrron had the mushroom and asparagus salad and I the scallops with artichoke vinaigrette.




Then I had the tomato soup with meatballs.



For mains we both had the very good Osso Buco and finished with some gelati.

The next morning was a sleep in. We were anchored off St. Tropez. St. Tropez is for the beautiful and entitled people and I don't fit the description so we stayed onboard.. The views.

Lunch at Spaccanopoli. I had the diavolo and Rojaan the porcini mushroom. They definitely are an improvent to previous voyages.



I had a New Zealand pinot noir. Lacked body so I would ask for something different if served again. Probably the Chilean carminere.

To keep a little fitness I did 18 laps of the deck 11 track.

Very much enjoying this report but missed a couple of days so had to catch up. Took a while. The photos are wonderful.

Dinner again in Atlantide.




Mrsdrron had the teriyaki chicken and I the scallops with strawberries.




She once again went with the lobster and I had the cajun crusted tuna -a little dry.

We have got to the stage where we have no idea which day it is but know we are steaming into Menton today.









Off on our tour to St. Agnes an Eagle Nest village. As we got off the tender we were each canded a cup of local lemon juice. When on the bus we passed the store where the lemon juice is sold. It was very nice lemon juice which would go well as part of my Grandfather's treatment for the flu - equal parts of lemon juice and rum. Probably didn't help defeat the flu but you no longer worried about it.

The bus driver was amazing. a very windy, steep and narrow road with many 1 lane sections. Not helped by French drivers who seemed to want the bus to back up and let them through. None succeeded. Also motor cycle riders who tried both overtaking or those going the other way thinking that they could easily get through on the one way sections. Then there were the cyclists thinking that they were training for the mountain segments of Le Tour with many of them sticking to the middle of the road.

We had reached the village and the first stop the church.









A memorial to those men from the village who died in WW1. More than half from 2 families.

After the church we climbed the main street. No cars on this but there is road access to the top of town.
