just went to herston BP on bowen bridge rd. This place does give bonus points but they didn't have any $200 cards. Are they pre defined? or they put it in like say myer gift cards? and the check out chick was so adamant that you could swipe two cards if one card didnt cover the cost...... ?!?!??!?!

You need to go to a BP not a cobranded BP to get the gift cards (if not ordering). Yes, the T&C clearly state that only one card can be used per transaction and that includes using a gift card and a CC. If it doesn't cover the full transaction then cash is required for the remaining balance.

In Melbourne;

BP corner of Williams and Malvern Road, Doncaster Road in Doncaster, Oban Road in Ringwood all work fine and will all allow you to exhaust a gift card and pay the rest on a credit card. Been to all and tried all.

Cheers,

Did you try using two gift cards?

Yep, done that too at the Oban road one. No problem at all. Nobody seems to care how you pay as long as you pay...

Thanks m8, that is really good to know. As this makes smaller denominations less problematic, and in fact, you have a habit or losing stuff, $50 and $100 probably hurt less...

Scheps, try the BP on Kingsford Smith Drive, near Albion Park raceway. The young manageress there knew her stuff and they had $200 BP gift cards and a slew of other ones

Love this site! Thanks to all! I've since signed onto the plat edge and have been reaping some very nice points since I only ever fill up at BP.

Just wanted to add my two cents - for those located in Adelaide if you've noticed the old Mobil service stations are now transformed into "On the Run" service stations. These "On the Run" outlets will actually give the bonus points (owned by the same company who own a massive majority of the BPs in SA). So if you're in a situation and you need fuel/ stuff and you see an ex Mobil station transformed into "On the Run" you will still get the bonus points. Tested on two different sites (one in Gawler and one on Marion rd/Cross road intersection) those guys pretty much own 90% of the BP servos in SA anyways. Not sure about the other states!

Thanks Lindsay for the tip. I went back to the herston one today and it worked well as they had access to something "out the back" and got myself 5 x $200. :)

You mean they actually got out the instructions and followed them :o

Nice to see that you've scored well.

Tried to buy the prepaid gift card at BP Kellyville (Sydney). Was told that they can only be bought using EFTPOS (savings or cheque), not credit card.

Which is not true but there have been a couple of reports of places taking this line. Try a different BP.

Re: 5xbonus at BP 'til 31Dec2011[Ext.to 31Mar2012] Must register your card.

WOW, had another unique experience.

I got told by another BP attendant that he recently put $500 into a $50 gift card..... so that means its quite customisable...... I hope he is right!

Re: 5xbonus at BP 'til 31Dec2011[Ext.to 31Mar2012] Must register your card.

It seems that you can buy a BP gift card say a $500 one and use it and top up as required but many are getting smaller denominations because of the risk of theft - is this the correct interpretation?

Re: 5xbonus at BP 'til 31Dec2011[Ext.to 31Mar2012] Must register your card.

Tried getting 7x $100 cards at BP in Braddon ACT.

After a bit of 'not sure what to do' moment, the attendant called their manager.
Then I was told:'Company policy is that we can only sell you a $100 card on credit card, because we don't allow transactions over $100 on cc. Every dollar above that has to be charged on savings/cheque account'
I replied: 'that's total non sense, I always fill up here $110+ and charge it to my credit card'
Him: 'No sorry we don't do that any more'
Me: 'Fine it's your loss, don't want any'
Him: 'Are you sure? I can sell you one card on the credit card and the rest can go on savings?!'
Me: 'Nah, forget it'

I'll be trying south side and see how it goes.

What a crock.

It costs me $90 to fill up my 50L tank at the moment, won't be long before that costs more than $100.

You should have just had him put it through as 7 separate transactions :)

Re: 5xbonus at BP 'til 31Dec2011[Ext.to 31Mar2012] Must register your card.

I did ask if it's ok to charge it as separate transactions, he refused.
The chap told me in the beginning that it would take 5-10 minutes PER CARD to be be activated to which I replied I'm happy to wait around.

What a bunch of bozos. Took about 2 minutes MAX to mine.

That's BS. I bought 2 x $200 cards the other day (Chadstone BP on Warrigal Road, if anyone is interested) on credit. It took about 2 minutes total to process both - including the clerk having to look up how to do it (and obviously being unfamiliar with the process).
