Re: Virgin Australia Business Class Catering - Service, Meal times, Menus

Got two DJ973s in the next month so will update on experience. Unfortunately one is a 737W (hope it changes)

Fly over dinner period, get 2 snacks

I flew J on VA last week BNE-MEL-ADL. Departed BNE at 4.55pm, arrived ADL 9.45pm (small delay in Melbourne). Assumed that i would get dinner on one of the flights at least. Nope, bacon scroll on first leg, cheese platter on second. Sorry VA, but as a WP you will lose my business if you keep this up. How can you expect to steal QF J traffic when you don't even feed your business passengers dinner?

Re: Fly over dinner period, get 2 snacks

Were you booked on the 1940 MEL-ADL? I'd expect dinner on that, but not the 2010.
The BNE-SYD-ADL route would have got you a dinner as well.

The direct flight times from BNE-ADL are a bit odd...

Cant remember which flight out of MEL it was as there were serious weather delays on both. I just think it is a bit steep to pay for J and miss dinner over 5 hours.

Re: Fly over dinner period, get 2 snacks

The first flight is most definitely a refreshment. The second one, MEL-ADL, maybe not either.

Like jpk, I'd assume that you were scheduled on the 2010h flight. (Had it been the earlier flight, that means you would've suffered a delay of at least 1 hour - that's hardly minor!). This is not within dinner time (1800 - 2000).

Probably worth keeping in mind the meal times next time you book your flights so you can select at least one meal flight to your satisfaction.

Looks like you were delayed 40 minutes or so. Be it weather or not, I'd not call that a minor delay! Also, I hope the bacon scroll on the first flight was good (sounds kind of odd as a J refreshment; I'd expect one of those for QF Y lunch). But, that's tangential to this story.

I've merged threads.

The meal times are set as implied by jpk.

I have included an excerpt from the first post of another thread below. Any flight of three hours or less that is scheduled to depart outside of these times gets a snack, even if it departs at 8:35am, 5:55pm or 8:05pm:
...
This is the official meal schedule provided to me by Virgin Australia after an enquiry regarding pretty poor meal performance. [For flights of less than three hours]
