Apparently QF and/or the QFF is going to be discussed on tonight's ABC 7:30 report.

So where do I join this scheme that has "free flights" on offer?

Was this the one with Paul Sheehan? Wasn't sure if I was watching ACA or Today Tonight, must have been neither.

So is it worth a look? mrssimongr recorded it for me as I had a late finish at work.

its the middle story - runsfor less than 10 mins. you get to meet the symons who have had 9 free overseas trips. you also meet an editor from smh who is very anti qff and a cynical -----!

Yes, nine "Free" overseas trips, but Increasinly less free, I'll bet.

all-in-all ... Yawn ... nothing we don't know from AFF or FT ...

Reading the transcript it certainly looked like a lightweight story

Watching it was painful. Paul Sheehan obviously didn't get his last upgrade request and threw a tanty, with help from the ever reliable anti-business 7.30 Report.:D

As to the "free flight" skiers.......who spend approx $4000 per month on their credit card......maybe they should look at the name of the program FREQUENT FLYERS it is not called occasional spenders. It is about time QFF started focusing the benefits towards frequent flyers and gave more weight to the points actually earned flying and less to points earned through credit cards.

Now I know that we have status credits but I think QF could do more, ie approx 9500 points for rtn J Syd-Per but I earn 4700 just by paying for that fare.

Yes, there often seem two be 2 classes (pardon the pun) of people - those that want the free economy flights to wherever and those that want the upgrades!

Did you mean 95000?

One has to wonder what is the "fair" return - how many trips do people think they should have to take to get the equivalent flight "free". 10? 20?

a 1 in 10ish approach in my mind seems fair
If you want to pay the various fines it can down to as little as 6& 1/2 rtn SYDMELs when one of the many points off offers are on up to a worse case 14 returns at the normal redemption level and use points for taxes etc (12 &1/2 if the usual 1,500 points offers are around)all on "classic redemptions" of course
Its rare I have trouble redeeming on this market and seem lucky in getting the discounted rate as well
Of course SYDMEL is probobly the easiest market to get a seat on the Qantas network with about 8,000 seats each way a day offered

I was referring to the points earn, 9500 points for J rtn Syd-Per (WP Status), the points to redeem J rtn Syd-Per is 76000 (I think) + fuel fines.
