717 on CBR flights

Flew on the 717 from BNE to CBR yesterday. My observations:

* Bit of an odd sound on taxi and take-off with the engines spooling up from way up back - much louder than other aircraft I have experienced, but got quieter as we took off and started the climb. I guess the wings probably dampen some of the sound on 737's and the like, and Dash's just have a different buzz all together.

* I found the ride a little different also, perhaps having the thrust so far back made the yaw motions seem to pivot further back (CoG ?), anyway it was just a little different from the aircraft movements that I am used to.

cheers,
OzE

Thanks for the review - all sounds pretty good look forward to flying the new routes!

Personally the flying style is why I love the 717, the angles and different noises make it feel like you are really flying. And the take offs!

Sometimes I even allocated myself right at the back for fun ;)

This !
(as the kids would say)

Used them a fair bit over a decade ago before the birth of Jetstar.

Still remember bording to the theme song of the Cyote ugly movie as they were still effectively crewed by Impulse ...

And SOME (not all) departments when connecting to an overseas flight, or SOME department on flights over ~4 hours or so. Eg CBR-BNE-DRW

As I said some, every department is different... Besides it was never all, especially business on domestic over 4 hours.
I did not mean to sound like I was contradicting you. I wasn't. Our department removed the 4 hour flight condition in the last EA, but anyway our agency head would insist that we did shorter legs anyway to get around this.

On the 717 flight BNE-CBR next week.

Does anyone know if the legroom in Y row 4 is similar to 738 Y row 4? As in, is it a soft bulkhead (curtain or something) from overhead or is it a hard bulkhead ala VA?

Currently allocated 4F for the flight, so if no-one knows, I am happy to report back.

Hi chooms, any report on the bulkhead leg room as yet?

It's probably the worst against other types in the fleet.

4D allows some flexibility in terms of stretching your leg into the aisle!

Thanks Ari Gold, at 6"1" looks like 13 or 14 C for me!

no problems selecting row 1 at time of booking in J on 717 syd-cbr flight here as a plat.
