Just hit WP and figured out that took 73 flights to reach it - geez that's a grind and frankly wondering whether it's worth it.

Purely been going up/down the eastern seaboard (MEL/ADL/CBR/SYD/BNE) plus another 20 non-SC earning flights on VA/JQ.

Just about all work flights and don't really get a say in what is booked, can put in preferences but that's it.

Got me wondering, any others who've had a ridiculously large number of flights to obtain status or conversely had a super-easy run to status? :P

Ever since I got to Platinum, its taken 10-15 flights to get to that level.

This year it's taken 34 flights with my year end being in Dec. Have another 10 work related flights to go. Next year with an early overseas trip booked it should only take about 8.

WP & 6 flights to retain. MEL-AKL-SYD-DPS-SYD-AKL-MEL all J. But I'm cheating - DSC run :)

Took me 17 flights, though the cost was quite low as I got to the US and back for just over $200 (full Y) via Asia. A couple of J flights to NZ capped it off.

15 flights last year (first time as WP). Similar to Eija couple of DSC runs in there and a lot of J fares.
18 i think this year before i requalified. Again mix of DSC & 50% bonuses in higher cabins.

I think im addicted now though. Im already hoping for another DSC promo and planning where i might go.

Will be 10 flights (3 return trips, only one in paid J, two of the trips have one stop in each direction as there’s no direct non-stop flights) from a DSC promo to retain WP and overshooting retaining it by quite a long way. It’s shaping up to be my biggest year yet by a long way. Another DSC offer would make P1 tempting.

26 flights for me primarily on BA intra-europe. I foolishly took points instead of 50SCs for my loyalty bonus which may have saved 5 flights.

For me, a more interesting statistic is the cost of WP as I reckon I am one of the cheapest Emeralds and HH Diamonds based on my routes and research

Requalified WP with 1325 SCs from 15 earning flights this year (ends 31 Dec). Total cost a smidgen over $6,600 - helped by the DSC and some cheap QR/MH J fares to Europe and India respectively.

It is all based on SC. I know one FF retained WP with about 8 flights but DSC sure helped them

I would only have needed 6 of the 10 flights I’ll have done once I retain WP to retain it, thanks to a long haul return trip to LHR on DSC alone almost getting me there.

I've taken 125+ flights each year the past 3 years and just attain Platinum. Most of my SCs come from SYD-BNE flights that earn 10 SCs/flight.

I have flown some VA/SQ flights credited to Velocity and a number of award flights each year.

Now that's frequent flying. I enjoy flying, but I think the novelty would wear off fast if I flew that much.

I love flying although sometimes it can get boring if I'm tired.

In a couple of weeks I'm doing BNE-SYD on weekend then 2 days back in BNE and BNE-SYD again Tuesday night then SYD-BKK the next day and BKK-HKG-BKK-CNX the day after as you would. Returning a few days later CNX-BKK, a few days of golf then boring BKK-SYD with wife and daughter. ;)

I love the trip planning. I get great satisfaction when I get the pieces of the puzzle to line up.

I had a look at the past 3 years and it's an average of 27 flights to reach WP. I have to say that "Fairer and Simpler" has actually helped me renew WP faster with flexible economy flights earning more SC than previously.

It usually taken 37-39 flights to attain WP over the last 5yrs.

I took 106 flights last year and only just scraped into wp. I think around 20 weren't oneworld though, so maybe about 85.
