In today's release "As announced last year, the Group has taken advantage of its young fleet and improved aircraft utilisation to restructure the future aircraft delivery profile so that no new fleet deliveries will occur until November 2019, when the first of the new, more fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft are introduced."

"The Group has also converted orders for 10 MAX 8 aircraft to MAX 10 aircraft, which will be delivered from 2022"

No cash, no demand for the MAxX... Just deferring the orders endlessly!

Comments in reply:

1) In today's release ... "The Group further improved its cash position during the 2018 financial year, delivering the highest ever 30 June cash balance of $1,415.5 million."

2) In today's release ... "Importantly, the improvement in the cash performance was achieved notwithstanding an increase in capital expenditure to acquire the last tranche of five Boeing 737-800NG aircraft, which were delivered during the year." (the word "acquire" is interesting as they are probably leased not owned. But using the word "acquire" applies to both scenarios.

3) The new jets would be factored into budgeting and are likely to be replacements and/or leased. As the leased fleet ages, the least costs lower ... as per today's release "The improved Free Cash Flow performance has been supported by earnings improvement, including reductions in aircraft operating lease rentals"

4) The MAX order hasn't been deferred endlessly (or at least yet). It was brought forward and then moved back to the original order timetable.

Hopefully the MAX10 will provide the extra space required to install lie flat seats for transcon J....

If like to see a few new basics like power/USB at every seat in the aircraft, even seatback IFE , like what DL are doing (now upgraded its 600th aircraft).

Understand the whole BYO device setup but they need to provide a charge point if not a seatback screen, as I dare say those little lithium power banks will probably be banned in the not to distant future.

Looking forward to the MAX. Seems like QF is going to be a while behind the Virgin max program.

I'm sure any new aircraft will have USB, if not full power points at every seat

Yes, I expect all new MAX aircraft will have power in all classes. (Though the new NG's delivered this year didn't in economy.) (All BSI aircraft have power in business class.)

Seatback IFE on the MAX, I would expect in business class for the expected "transcon fleet" at least and not economy.

Flew OOL-ADL on weekend and FA said the plane was "brand new".

No idea, as I do not follow these things. But looked pretty shiny.

Good to note most of my recent flights have free WifFi now.
