Hi,
A question regarding J class on the 744. Which cabin is better (upstairs/downstairs)? Please share your experience.

I will be flying from SYD to SIN few months time in J but I can't decide on which cabin to be in.

Cheers guys

Upper deck. Responsive service. Cosy cabin. No thoroughfare for Y or Y+ PAX to use toilets. Quieter. ummm, what else is there?

+1 to the above.
I now always selct top deck unless bottom is looking empty as sometimes the extra space is nice.

Lower deck for me; easy exit, better storage space for carry-on only, responsive service.

23D/F are my preferred seat. Also, more people want the upper deck so more chance of the centre E being free. ;)

Of course, if it's a 4 class configuration being sold at three class, the flat seat in zone are are the go.

i like upstairs, and it's where I'd sit, that said serfty does make a good point about 23D/F, provided you don't want to use IFE until you're in the air... of course 3 class service on a 4 class plane downstairs zone A everytime.

I too love the lower deck. Have found it to be cooler and more space friendly. :D

I'll second this thought. Have 23F pre-allocated for Friday.

Having flown once only on each deck, I'd lean toward upper deck window for the storage bins next to the window.

I still prefer the upper deck, and more specifically 16A or K. I always feel Like I'm away from the general hubbub. I did sit in 23J on my last MEL-LHR and it was fine, but I just find the main cabin "busier" than the upper deck.:)

Always UD for me. Just flew 16A to SYD-LHR and back to BKK and I really enjoy the small cabin feel. Also the being able to go downstairs for a walk feels good :p Once when boarding the crew said, "ahaa you are in the ivory tower"

16A is my pick...

Another who prefers the lower deck.Just easier. And if a 4 class sold as 3 then I'm definitely with Serfty, lower deck, font cabin is the only place to be.

Obviously Zone A if available is the go (who would prefer a sky bed over a lie flat bed?) - although in seat power is better in the Skybeds I find.

I do agree with the logic of Serfty's (and others) comments but there is still the emotional tug towards the upper deck. It just feels more special...

Maybe you'll prefer the UD once you're knee is done?

Upper deck for me, ideally rows 16 (if avail) then either 13 or 17.

Doc - why 13?

Without going to the QF website to check the seat maps, istr it's rows 11,12,13, exit, 16,17,18.

I like 13 as it's the last row in front of the exit, which means everyone forward of you goes to the front toilet (predominately) and everyone behind goes to the rear toilet. Means less foot traffic walking past when you're sleeping.

Note for those CPAP users (not me but noticed when I was last in 16A the guy in 13A was using) there's power access at the wall near 13AB.
