787 or A380 to USA

Enjoy your trip wendlle and good choice ! The other thing with the A380 is that it is somewhat compartmentalised so one does not feel like they are in a big plane with lots of passengers.

Try flying a Jetstar B787 in economy class on an overnight journey ......it brings new meaning to the words "narrow" and "suffering" !

I think I took that overnight flight from Japan on Jetstar
I didn’t think it was too bad but I did have a 4 year old next to me and no one on the other side

I thought the JQ 787s are pretty similarly configured to the QF 787s. The bigger difference is the routes and passengers on those routes more than the seat itself.

Speaking of being "in the way" , any thoughts on the last row economy seats in the 787? These are the only "duo" seats where my partner and I could sit together without a stranger. But they are right in front of the toilet - I'm not concerned about the noise of the toilet itself but wondering if people queuing for the toilet tend to bump into you or not, if you're in that aisle seat. Anyone have any experiences to share?

Note - I've booked the 787 to DFW despite greatly preferring the A380, the advantages of excellent connecting flights in DFW compared to very awkward timings in LAX have won out.

I recently flew on QF12 with wife and 2 kids under 10 in 77DEFG.

It helped having no one sitting behind us and did not feel like any less recline than other rows.

I’ve been in those seats and it was fine no issues at all

Yes the lax connecting flights for me aren’t as good I should have thought about it more but really wanted the A380 aircraft so will just have to make it work

I've only had 2 flights on Jetstar. One recently on a 3K flight CGK-SIN. The JQ flight was the old overnight MEL-NRT on the old A330s in "Star Class". Felt like QF PY on a 747.

I've been in economy multiple times on Scoot and Jetstar on B787's (9 abreast) over the years - I'm 180cm+ with a medium to large build - I had no issues on these flights.

Although I can sympathize / understand anyone in economy on a 12hr+ flight, I honestly think the narrowness of the 787 economy seats is overstated.
