Whats the best redemption value for 8k Velocity points... Does DJ offer discounted award bookings... I seem to remember some 20% or so reduction recently but that was before I decided to go to Singapore so I didn't take advantage of that offer.

I also noticed that I don't have enough to use these points for a one way from coughet or Jakarta to somewhere in Australia (most likely Perth) Which would have been nice. I can use 6900 but the cash attached to that option seems higher than booking the flight outright on a sale/promo basis.

Anything I can do from outside of Australia to bump that mileage to something more useable?

Is Malaysian Airlines a Velocity partner? That could be one option.

Another option is Hilton hotel stays. Reasonably cheap in Kuala Lumpur.

Using Points Plus Pay on a SYD-DPS oneway 6900 points should yield equivalent saving at 1.5c per point value...sadly that's been the best I could find.

Edit: from SIN you could earn additional points by taking a SIN-BNE flight at some point on the Etihad codeshare with V Australia

If you dont want to travel you could use them to donate towards the QLD flood relief.

I do want to travel and do want to donate to the flood relief I'm sure, especially since I lived in Queensland.

I completely forgot that Etihad and Malaysian Airlines participate in Velocity. I have seen some reasonable fares on MAS, alhtough I wonder if those promo fares qualify for mileage earning.

by the way... do Velocity points expire? I haven't had any activity with DJ for over a year.

Velocity points do not expire.

Here's the redemption options page: Velocity - Redeem
