I live between two cities, and lament the weekly commute, but usually fly MEL to SYD Sunday nights.

This long weekend decided to stay at MEL and fly Tues morn, going directly to office rather than the usual late Sun night commute.

Noticed a minor annoyance this morning. No espresso machine at the newly renovated MEL dom J lounge.

Queded up for an espresso with all the other weary eyes early risers. I hate queues. I have an espresso machine at home, so don’t mind this alternative to hand made coffee. I got a double espresso to bang down, luckily joining a queue of about 4 people.

By the time I was ready for a 2nd hit, there was 20modd people in the queue. I am too impatient for that, so did about 3 victory laps of honour around the lounge to discover no self-serve espresso machine.

Excuse me if I am blind. But what’s the go with this enhancement?

Oodles of space dedicated to trendy DIY teas, and trendy cordials (which I love), but no where else for all the busy/impatient coffee addicts... I vote bring back the espresso machine, please QF. Anyone else agree?

I was there Sunday morning and IIRC there was one there.

All three of my coffees were made at the bar because it was dead quiet.

The machine was about halfway between the bar service area and the service desk against a wall.

Or maybe I imagined it.

I was there Sunday afternoon and that was my recollection also

I like the Skip app, and you can really customise options with it, but I have found myself arriving on-time a few times and found nothing waiting for me. The staff member then usually confirms I'm "sam" and says it's coming next. I should try to be less punctual perhaps?

I feel they need a more clearly signed pick-up area for Skip orders too, as others in the queue may get the wrong idea about why I am jumping to the front and picking up a coffee without ordering.

They used to have a sign for the Skip pick-up point - might not have been re-installed?

As long as you don't select the 'Qantas Business Lounge Melbourne' thinking it says Brisbane as you'll be in BNE and your coffee will be ready in MEL!
I think removal of the machine coupled with not having a dedicated coffee ‘go to place’ is the thing I find weirdest about the whole set up.

The ADL QP make up some lattes ready for pax once the doors open at 0500. I've had a couple of 0600 departures and seen this on both occasions.

Yes, they are waiting near the entrance as the hordes stream in! Latte and cappuccino.

I wonder if in that big space(relatively) to the right of the CL entrance, basically between the eclators and the QC entrance, wouldn't that be a good place for a little "grab and go" type coffee station for the mornings? I reckon there's enough space there - could serve both lounges.... (I would suggest downstairs but the riff raff might come in :p (that's a joke)

Now that’s a real enhancement.

For a Qantas club, the Adelaide lounge is great. They often walk around with drinks, coffee waiting in the mornings and party pies and sport on the tvs in the evening. Can always get a seat. Apart from the spice bar in Melb Business lounge, I much prefer Adelaide to both Melb lounges.

Love the skip app. Uually have a 2hour drive home from BNE - order my coffee to collect while waiting to deplane. Never had an issue.
