Came across this, and thought it might be useful for newbies (like myself).

What surprised me was the number - 20; I guess some are consolidated into holding companies, but still a lot of choice out there.

Not all operate locally.

Conversely there are some other lines that do operate locally that aren't covered.

Our 1st cruise was on a HAL vessel. We have since completed another 5 HAL cruises and like them because passengers are generally in the "more mature" age group.
Rarely saw any children and the night club was off the beaten track.

My choice of best cruise was Ft Lauderdale to San Diego via the Panama Canal

Wouldn't find us on the first 8 or number 12 and very unlikely on the other 3.

Our first cruise was on a local eastern Mediterranean cruise line, Celestyal, around the Aegean. We enjoyed it, nice and low key and we are not foodies so were happy with what they served up. Had a suite with a large balcony at a very reasonable cost.

A second cruise was with RC around the Baltic, and a highlight was the sailing from Stockholm through the islands viewed from our balcony.

Our third cruise was to be Celestyal again, to Egypt and Israel in March 2020. That was washed out by Covid, and although we had to wait a year (thanks to the Greek government who allowed travel companies to keep fares for liquidity purposes) we received a refund in full. We are currently booked on the same cruise for this time next year, although Hamas will no doubt have a role in whether it goes ahead.

My first cruise line isn't on that list
