On ATWs, an AONE4 / AGLOB34 is $17097 ex AU whilst even just starting in AKL drops the price to $14001 . Easy $3096 saving per ticket ( minus the cost of a trans tasman )

With "only 5k more consideration" , seems a lot to me , but then I only paid $6200 inc taxes for a 1st r/t europe to NZ recently

To get the NZD prices do you have to start and end in nz?

Yes.

The origin of your ticket needs to be somewhere in NZ, which means you'll need to book a positioning flight for your folks so they can get to NZ to start their journey proper. You probably won't be able to "link" the fares of the connecting flight and whatever you choose for your RTW grand plan, so leave ample time between both itineraries.

You need to start in NZ and the ticket has to end in NZ, but if they don;t take the last sector aross to NZ they shouldn't have any issues. You will need to purchase a trans tasman flight to get there to start the trip though, but that neednt be too expensive

Fantastic... you're right what will they do if they no show the last flight =)

top tips thanks Dave and anat,

They shouldn't? Or is this a carrier by carrier thing?

I guess with an F ticket there shouldn't be any issues, I mean, what on earth could they possibly charge you? Plus, if you miss your last leg, you can always rebook it (I'm taking most F around the world allows you to rebook fairly freely).

Also, the ticket need to be "Purchased" in NZ, other wise if the fare is higher in the country of purchase that is what you pay. (i.e. If you purchase ex NZ in Australia you need to pay the higher (Australian) price.)

Hmmm... I do have a NZ credit card or work mates in NZ... how lame... but i think I can get it done... You can always go back in to change contact details can't you after the ticket is booked?

Is it possible to do it through QF NZ booking or is AA the way to go for this per the other thread you posted?
