The VERDICT:
Being a xmas themed meal service certainly added to the festive feeling onboard this flight - a home away from home sort of xmas.
I'm sure SQ has been talked alot about here and on other sites, and judging by my personal experiences, it has once again lived up to its name with its quality service, presentation and onboard offerings.
And....just to mention the service elements of the FA's - yes sometimes they exhibited a robotic and methodical nature but they were warm, friendly and happy to engage in a bit of chit chat. I think in recent years they've become more personable and trained to engage more with customers. The 2 Fa's serving my aisle took time to chat and joke with pax, in addition to being efficient and timely to addressing our service requests. They were also keen to promote SQ, and talk in detail about the flight's food and seat product offering, duty free items, and making sure everyone was comfortable and having a enjoyable flight.
Ms Wong - the lead in the cabin on that day was also keenly interested in my photo taking and asked about my blogging - I'm sure she'll read this soon enough!
Yes there were some things like the blue socks which might be a bit of a let down- but overall I rate this flight a 9/10.
Pre-departure up till boarding - 8/10 (outside SQ's control but an express system could be implemented at ADL)
Cabin presentation 8/10 (some signs of wear - my tray table felt it was in desperate need of some lubricant. Xmas decorations a huge plus)
Food - 9/10 (portions for nuts a bit small, humongous whole fruits served, otherwise entree, main and dessert flavours were excellent)
Lav- 9/10 (clean, well kept, good toiletries on offer, a big plus is the foot activated trash door)
Crew service - 9/10 (not as chatty or perhaps 'nosy' as some that I have encountered on VA or EY, but were very hard working diligent, and happy to share jokes and engage in small talk.)
IFE - 9/10 (mostly quickly, although some lag expected)
OTP-10/10 (left early, arrived early)
cheers
