Well my accommodation costs have dropped substantially thanks to the approval of a BRG giving me a free night, looking forward to checking out the Yas island area.

Ditto here, although its closer to forty hours for me.

I enjoyed my 72 hours in AUH, and certainly could have spent less time at a couple of the places I visited. However I wasn't on a mission to see everything, and I am sure I will have more opportunities in the future.

I would suggest the Grand Mosque and Marina Mall. Google for tour times at the mosque - they are free. They also have suitable clothing to wear if you don't want to 'robe-up' for the whole day.

The Mall would be an opportunity to have a relaxed wander around, a meal and maybe go to the cinema. With a 6am arrival you probably won't be too energetic for the whole day. If you have time, drop into the Emirates Palace on the way back to the airport (it is on the way) and spend an hour being amazed at the opulence.

The bus into the city is a good idea, and from there use the taxis - they are cheap.

Ditto here, 22 hours on the way back from the Maldives. Although I know exactly what I'll be doing. Staying at an airport hotel adjacent to the Yas Marina F1 circuit. And then sample their Aston Martin GT4, Yas Supersport SST, Formula Yas 3000 and Chevrolet Camaro. Can't wait! Oh, and did I mention they have an F1 two-seater!!!?? :D :D

Get behind the wheel at Yas Marina Circuit

Driver Experiences at Yas Marina Circuit

Very cheap for what would cost a fortune anywhere else in the world. Bit more than OPs $60 limit though sorry.

Expletives times infinity! Dammit. Upon further inspection of the Yas marina experiences T&Cs, virtually all of the sports cars and f1 two seater have a maximum height of 188cm and weight of 105 kgs. Between now and march I'm sure I could drop down to 105 just for this cause, but at 191cms I'm screwed.

Anyone know of any temporary heigh reduction drugs?? Some how I don't think bending my knees upon measurement will cut it... Although my poor posture might help a little.

Bugger! Slouching is definitely worth a try.

Maybe if I quote them all my airline/hotel statuses they will make an exception, ala DYKWIA.
