A great deal for an existing CitiBank cardholder...

Called today and was only offered refund of annual fee and 5000 points.

She wouldn't budge on the 2 x bonus points offer and said my they cannot amend that on my card (citi business gold).

Might have to try again tomorrow.

$21,000 limit about $100,000 annual spend.

Do they log these calls?

Going to try again tomorrow.

Update for you gurus:

My current offer on my Citi Platinum Visa I have is:

  • 3.25 CR points per $1 until 31 December 2012
  • 250,000 points cap (but this is based on base points, i.e. 1.25 points per $1)
  • Therefore, 650,000 points available until 31 December 2012 which I'll be banking!
  • $0 annual fee (waived)
  • 2 free supplementary cards (normally $99 each)
  • $19,500 credit limit - increase rejected but not a big deal. Just have to keep loading cash onto the card when required.

Who really needs the Signature or Select?

Wish I could transfer to 8 airlines like I can with AMEX Plat Charge. SQ redemptions are the best anyway I guess... Can't complain!

Good luck to you all!

SWMBO rang this morning to cancel her CitiGold. Transferred to retention dept and they offered balance transfer @ 0% int for 12 month.....with a proviso that the offer be taken within 1 month.

She didn't ask for anything just wanted out.....I think she will take up the offer.

Just rang up to try and get my 1 bonus point per $1 upgraded to 2 bonus points per $1 - no dice. They did waive my annual fee for this year though, so at least it's not a wasted call.

I wonder if the 1 bonus point per $1 was for CitiBusiness Gold cardholders, and 2 bonus points per $1 was for Platinum cardholders - anyone with a CBG achieve better than 1 bonus point per $1?

yeah, I'm on CB Gold and on 2 bonus.

But she flatly refused to waive the annual fee as well, it was one offer or the other.

Gah, that's damn annoying (happy for you - annoyed at Citibank). At least I also just figured out that my 1 bonus point per $1 is not counting towards my annual points cap, despite the fact that it's meant to.

But she flatly refused to waive the annual fee as well, it was one offer or the other.

I'd take 2 bonus points per $1 spent over an annual fee waiver in a second - want to trade? ;-)

The funny thing about my annual fee waiver is they achieved it by just crediting $89 to the card - and they did it now, despite the fee not being due until August. Seems a bit daft, I could still cancel it before August and have simply made $89, rather than Citi having retained me as a customer for another 12 months (which is obviously the goal).
