A Kalbarri kaleidoscope

No cost.

It's not a glass-floored platform like the one at the Grand Canyon, although it is a gridded floor, so you can see through the gaps.

Not quite correct. There is no additional cost, but you still need to pay to enter the national park. $15 for a single day entry per vehicle. You can reduce the daily rate with a longer term pass and RAC members can get half price longer term passes via the RAC website.

There's always a pedant... 😜

I thought just after I posted the previous reply that I should have mentioned the park entry.

And, predictably of course, it was The Kid, aka The-Millennial-Who-For-Some-Bizarre-Reason-Insists-On-Identifying-As-A-GenX . (Errr- why proudly (now there's a buzzword... 😜) admit to identifying with a misplaced and oh-so-trivial group's role in history?)

I'd say I care.... But I'm a gen x'er, so meh.

By the way, what do they call your generation.... You know, the ones before the boomers? 🤔

Then the Z Bend. I recall going to Kalbarri NP in probably the early 1980s to view a flood event. It was stunningly spectacular, especially at the Z Bend, but obviously not one of the biggies as it doesn’t rate a mention here: Murchison River (Western Australia) - Wikipedia. Even so, the muddy water extended hundreds of metres offshore at the river mouth.

2006 was a monster (Floods in Western Australia, post #27 here: A circuit around the WA mid-west).

And back in town to wind down the day with a drink at quirky Finlay’s brewery/resto.

Natures Window still looks the same...except for the queue up of people wanting selfies...it's getting like Europe or the USA!

I remember we sat and ate lunch in the window in the old days as it was the shadiest spot.

Having the same problem here, remote waterfalls and hikes now have 50 people there.

It was school holidays, so we knew it would be a zoo.

Lovely photos and flowers as usual - thanks for sharing
