Quick question - I've checked the ANA tool and it looks like availability to Europe is limited over the Xmas break for normal one transit/stop trips.

However, looks like I can do it via Sydney/Bangkok/Istanbul/Munich vv - does this still cost 150k points for J, or is there an additional fee for the third flight?

Hi Everyone

Results are in from the dark side:

Opinion is divided if the number of transits is limited to 3 or 6, however some people have provided example routings:

I was able to get SFO-JFK-FRA-ZRH using SQ miles so I am pretty sure your alternate routing should be fine. I believe the maximum transfers permitted are 3 (though I could be wrong)

While I cant answer exactly, I was recently able to book a *A award booking through Krislfyer for the following route in J
MCO-EWR-DUS-IST-SIN-PER

Someone also posted something from 2003, so not sure if this still relevant today:

For a *A award using KrisFlyer miles:

Maximum of 6 sectors allowed on a *A award.

1 Stopover and 1 open jaw allowed on all awards, except for awards completely within Europe or purely domestic awards within any country where no stopovers or open jaws allowed

haydensydney, thanks for doing the leg work on this. As the booking will be over the phone, in my experience, when it hasn't worked the first time, i call and call again until it does. The skill level of the various call agents does vary.

For KF redemption changes, Some will be blunt and quote "5,000 telephone assistance and lose 15% online discount", others apologise and do it for 1500 miles.

Point cost is the same.

For my booking next July the SQ agent for a *A to Paris (as SQ do not have Saver J's there) initially was going to book me a multi- stop flight via Frankfurt. It was time-wise going to take a lot longer.

I was nice and chatty and friendly with her, so she volunteered to see what she could do and said she would check, but would need to ring me back later.

This she did several hours later with 3 J on Thai to Paris from MEL via Bangkok, all with minimum connection times. :)
