A little bit of moderation in Dubai.

I've had a quiet day, looking after the kids, thankfully every time I felt tired, something happened. NM dropped by my place to pick up the headphones in order to trial them.

I'm off to bed at 9pm, as work is calling tomorrow, hopefully Saturday will give me a chance to post lots of my photos - I have a quick fire day trip to attend a clients funeral.

I need to get that tie back to you BTW, are you selling your iPad mini, I can see it now, for sale, only a week old but has taken hundreds of photos and videos, owner surgically attached :)

I suppose you could say they have taken a desert and are turning it into an Oasis, there is no hotel jogging/walking guide because most places have footpaths but they are rarely used. Its certainly weird to see what would be skyscrappers in any other city appear as just normal buildings on lots with empty sand lots between them. I am looking at a two week trip to go back and do it properly, so much to do, and the food is brilliant everywhere we went.

It is almost a tale of 2 cities.

There are some really lush green areas and parks. I'm not sure if anyone got photos. But there are certainly no water restrictions. ;)

I tend to head for lush green forests or water. To see these (undoctored by advertising) photos offers a very different perspective. It's just so different from anything I have personally experienced. It's definitely a place that looks worth exploring. Too bad my next European jaunt is via Singapore. :D

Great post guys just spent the best part of 2 hours reading from start. Can't wait for further photos and hot gos about you know who (BR)!

Trust me. I'm not that interesting!

I'm just who I am. :)

BossR, Markis and Lindsay....great to see/hear you all had a brilliant time.

Till the next trip....

Just read the whole lot - sounded like such a great trip. Have been but didn't appreciate it as much as through the great photos posted here. Thanks for all that 'moderation'.

Gents, great to hear you got this opportunity. I also was lucky enough to get on board . My first Officer mate told me he was chosen for the launch and so I had to be on it. The only problem was that he was on the QF 9 launch which actually landed in DXB 55 mins before QF 1. Unfortunately I didn't get to indulge in the 4 days of activities and waited 8 hours at the airport to catch the first QF 2 flight back to Syd.
A great memory . I got the obligatory boarding pass signed by Alan Joyce, Tim Clark and the Chief pilot.

The Emirates First lounge in the new A380 only terminal is out of this world. An airport within an airport. The lounge provides you with private access to every gate.

8 hour wait after a 14 hour flight for another 14 hour flight, thats a hard core way to cure jet lag :). Agree with the EK lounge comments, although the food offerings are surpassed IMHO by QF when at home lounges (MEL/SYD).

We heard about the hydraulics delay on Fox News last night. They mentioned that onboard were several VIPs including AJ and media personalities. I said to my husband they forgot to mention LW, Markis10 and BR. My husband looked at me like I was slightly mad. He doesn't go on forums much. Probably just as well given some of the comments about the Rockpool lunch on this thread.

How did you get all their autographs? Were you able to get 'close enough' to them? You did very well to do all that in eight hours.

Would you agree with the Emirates statement that the F lounge allows passengers to board their aircraft directly from lounge?

AJ was on his way to HKG on an EK flight, so they were wrong...we were (social) media personalities :D

Would have been interesting had they returned us to DXB :o

Well, why would the media let the facts get in the way of a good drama. Never have before!
