A long shot...............Japan

I previously used Yokoso fares but didn't have excess luggage. However, JAL are very good at recognising OneWorld status levels and being appropriately discretionary with their application of luggage allowances.

Also, when you go to check in, ask if you can purchase an upgrade to business, it costs 1,000 Yen and they reissue your ticket to J and you get the J SCs. :)

I wonder if they'll let Mrs Here2go and I go up the front of the plane, while Master 4yr Old and Miss 2yr old are down the back...... an hour of bliss!

No issue. Should become 1 PNR I think, and then the most significant carrier comes into play.

But, they are quite strict on luggage on JAL from CTS in my experiences, of you are going for the ski season.

I have found that Japanese ATMs seldom take Aussie cards. Take so currency with you in case you have similar issues.

I found almost none would take Aussie cards.
Moreover I would buy as much of my currency as possible before I arrived in Japan.

Is it safe to visit Japan considering the level of radiation ?

3 months after Fukushima background radiation levels in Tokyo were lower than Melbourne. So do you worry about visiting Melbourne?

Being around Fukushima probably isn't the best place to be. The clean up is still going on at the power plant & surrounding areas. Some people have been told that it will never be safe to return to their homes.

Tokyo & all points south are fine. I went there a few months afterwards in 2011 & was fine.

My Geology teacher at high school always warned us against Armidale in NSW. All that New England granite apparently can set off the geiger counters. Yet people still live there.

I'm playing it safe this holiday season. I'm avoiding Armidale, and I'm off to go Niseko skiing where there is a nuclear reactor in the valley adjacent to Mt Yotei, which last erupted 350-odd years ago, so is still considered technically active. If we can all talk about this story, and make Japan less attractive to all the gaijin, fingers crossed the Yen will drop, and I will have a cheaper skiing holiday.

Arigatu gasayimasu in advance for your trash talk!

An innocent question has hit a nerve but thank you for your response.

I guess the question was probably seen as not being phrased in an unbiased manned. That said, it would be nice for fewer people to visit niseko! could improve costs and loadings for my flights.
