About 2 pm we went to our suite.The first bag was delivered a couple of minutes later but we had to wait~2 hours for our second bag.It arrived just before the compulsory lifeboat drill.

The cabin on the Muse certainly looks much better than the room at the Ultimo Hotel.

The views from our balcony.First the Anzac Bridge.

There is a lot of history here including the White Bay Power station which began generation in 1917.

You may recognise it as it has been used in The Matrix Reloaded,Red Planet and the series Water Rats.It was served by the "60 Milers"which brought coal from the Hunter or Shoalhaven.Early on they loaded at Morpeth then Hexham but there were many loading facilities.Details here-

Next is the old Glebe Island Bridge which I crossed many times a a young fellow.It is a swing bridge.There is a campaign to use it again for pedestrians and cyclists.

A woman died on that boat over the weekend. A young woman. It is thought she inhaled toxic fumes from the black waste vent.

Sail away was at 6pm.In a masterstroke of planning Silversea scheduled their Meet and Mingle for Cruise Critic guests at 6pm.It was to be hosted by the Asst. cruise Director who did not show up.Was meant to be in the main bar.Signs were up for the Foreign guests meet up and the Solo travellers meet up but none for the Meet and Mingle so we went out on deck.Came back after passing the Opera House and now a sign up and 8 other Cruise critic guests but no rep fron SS.

So from the deck-here we go.

I think cruise lines time their greets for the worst possible times so hoping people don’t go. There was a post on Aus CC the other day where 400 people showed up! Yowsers.

Absolutely not.I am just about to start our journey on the early morning QF flight MCY-SYD.
Left for MCY ~0530.Checkin a breeze.This time we are in J on an AA award so our Aadvantage numbers in.I am OWS on AA.But this time they KWWW.Settled into 1A,C.Departed a few minutes late as plane was a little late into MCY the night before.Breakfast was a nice quiche.

They made up a lot of time and we were a little early into SYD.Then a big shock.Our bags out first!Of course we were way too early to check into our hotel so the moral of the story is that if you want to have your bags out first then have a desire for them to take as much time as they like.
Because of this we had a coffee at Hudson,s Coffee just near the baggage carousel.Interesting people watching.The highlight was a woman coming up the escalator from the train station,rushing over to the carousel and collecting the last remaining bag and then heading back to the station.

We then got a taxi to our hotel.Fortunately he took the slowest possible route.However it was just after 1030 when we arrived at the Ultimo hotel just opposite the old Paddy's Markets.It is a Rydges hotel but Rydges is nowhere to be seen in the hotel.However being on a shareholder rate a room was ready for us but others were being told checkin was at 1500.

So to the room.We booked a superior king room but got a larger family room.

Several reasons for not staying here again.First each floor is on 3 levels so 2 lots of narrow and steep stairs between eacl level-awful forgetting your bags to the room.
Second-no power points in the bathroom,the mirror in the room or besides the bed.
But if no luggage and you love Asian food the position is fantastic.

So to some food pics.The first night we ate outside on the Pool deck.They have Hot Rocks dining.Not everyone reads the info you are given and 2 tables near us demanded their food be plated.They had to wait a while.So I had the selection-veal scallopine,salmon cake and skewers beef,pork and a prawn.Mrsdrron had the prawns.

Mrsdrron had a baked potato and I tempura mushrooms which were nice.We like our protein this way.

Breakfast we have in the restaurant or our suite but basically the same.A plate of fruit followed by eggs.This day eggs Benedict.

The locals did a good job.They had a bus every 20 minutes going around the sights of Eden.It was a short bus trip.We alighted in Town and viewed some of the old buildings.

Interestingly over a hundred years ago there were people advocating for a new State based on Eden.

.

Not much here now and it doesn't seem much different to when I first saw it over 50 years ago.Good views from the main street though.

Once upon a time a seagull,pelican and a cormorant sat on a fishing boat.....

We had lunch at a place we ate at about 10 years ago.Still good and we shared a bowl of mussels and a plate of oysters with lime and ginger washed down with a bottle of Tassie Sav Blanc.

Seabourn also pound us with paperwork.. the latest is another world cruise.. 146 days for $100kaud in a verandah suite..cheap as chips…
In our octo years we may well look at something like this…but could we stand eating those meals for 100+days… doubt it...

We loved the hot rocks dining on the Silver Cloud - I couldn’t move away from the Argentinian beef, kept having it and I don’t usually like meat!
