I'm obsessed by this, checking the price of it daily, in the hope of finding a good discount. I want it, I have no need for it, yet I desire having it, with stylus, in my hands.

Its the A5 form factor, and the use of a stylus instead of my fat palm that im interested in the most. Am seeing the LTE (4G) model at a tad over AUD$600 from the Grey importers. And my recent travels around HKG, SIN, KUL all suggest that that as a fair price...

Tempt me not.

A lot of the places that come up on searching for Australian prices are in fact based in Hong Kong.Eglobal is one of them.Seems you can get a good deal from them but beware.Often they don't have the item in stock but still charge you even though they say they wont.Happened to mrsdrron but happily whilst I still have an Amex relationship manager so the charge was immediately challenged and reversed.

Yeah that's my biggest concern. Dodgy importers from HK.

The ironic thing though, I can get it cheaper from them delivered to Australia, then paying in cash to a vendor in a computer market in HK...is this what the internet does to retail?

Yet a month ago I bought a new Sony camera. It cost less from Sony Australia than any of the HK vendors and even cheaper than B&H in NYC.I was shocked.

its probably more what mainland china shoppers do to HK computer markets! :)

I really didn't believe it at first, the HK markets were more expensive, for phones, tablets, computers and lenses. It was my electronic gadgetry haven crumbling before my eyes.

It took a lot of willpower to not make a sympathy purchase of something I needed even less.. One month traveling around Asian gadget centres and nothing to show for it :(

Watch the warranty situation. Note if office works sells it they will match AU stock from an online merchant and give extra off.

Oh and Note 3 is due out soon... Hence why Note 2 has started dropping in price. With the galaxy S4 the outright price has actually dropped fairly quickly so of you wait for the Note 3 you may want to wait a month or so after introduction .

I bit the bullet and got one of these just now. The 4G model was going form Bing Lee for $549.

Now waiting waiting waiting..hmm cases..

Nice ! Try ebay for cases. Plenty of decent (and cheap) ones from China.

Yeah, thats where I always get accessories from. Have been warned not to get one with a magnetic clasp on it as it affects the calibration of the stylus over time.
Ideally I'd like one that has room to have a A5 sized notebook next to it, but then I think, I should be trying to ween myself off paper and onto the stylus!

Sorry, I'm a bit lost*, did you end up getting the Galaxy Note LTE

*Blonde moment kicks in

HK does seem to be fading as the cheap place to buy tech. I was surprised on my last trip with shopping list in hand for the Golden Computer Market at Sham Shui Po that it wasn't the bargain that I remembered it being. Certainly not like it was 5 to 10 years ago.

I have bought one item from eglobal and I had no troubles, very quick delivery.

And yes, the note 8 with 4G is very tempting for me too. I find my Nexus 7 just a bit too small and the stylus is very tempting.

Yes 4G = LTE in this case, although technically LTE isn't quite 4G, but that's the terminology being used around the place.

Agreed with your comments on HK too, I was shocked that I can get things delivered to Aus *from* Hong Kong, cheaper than in store *in* Hong Kong.

Hopefully will have the Note 8.0 it in my hands in a few days to give it a run and some feedback
