Thank you so much, a great trip report and lovely, lovely pictures. Would so love to visit again after seeing your pics ( just been to London and Leicester in 2015). Saw the drool worthy Chihuly in Seattle and these pics look very similar . You are a truly great and kind friend.

Time to finish this off since it's the anniversary of the date I came back home

I had a 9am flight from LGW North Terminal and the Hilton is in the South Terminal. Not far to walk over to the terminal and then train to the North Terminal.

Qatar use the Aspire Lounge at Gatwick which is pretty basic.

The flight from LGW to DOH was on a 787- 8 and was about 6 and half hours. There are about 20 seats in J and there were a total of 5 passengers. The FA said I could sit wherever I wanted so I moved from 5A to 3K. Not sure why but it just felt nicer.

When we got to Qatar it was just starting to get dark.

Five passengers got on in London and four of us walked off and bussed to the terminal but the last left in the ambulance. I didn't see any dramas happening so not sure if it was planned or not.

I'm not sure which lounge I went into - I know that as WP at the stage I had a choice and I was directed to one which they said was better than the other. The water feature in the middle was quite spectacular. There was plenty of food but I didn't feel like much at this stage.

While I was waiting to board at the gate I was paged and asked if I minded swapping seats. I was in 7K and moved to 6A which was still a window seat so said sure. Someone had a broken leg and needed the extra space. This flight was completely full and of course my seat wouldn't recline unless it was done manually which was a bit of a pain but the FA were fantastic at changing it whenever I asked. This flight was an A350-900 but without the Q suites

Thanks for the TR. It was good to see some more photos of o/s.

Did you like the "Traditional Arabic Breakfast"? I must admit that I didn't really enjoy it.

Thanks

The pictures are of the signature Arabic mezze not the breakfast and I must admit I wasn't that impressed with either the dips or the bread.

I was going to finish this off an hour ago but just as I got to the end AFF decided to have a little break.

So all in although I was only on the ground for 2 weeks I felt that although it was a sad reason to go I got to have a nice break and catch up with lots of friends.

Thanks for all the feedback and happy to answer any questions.

Sorry, I had breakfast on my mind with your earlier photos.

Thanks - We all just have to keep our fingers crossed that it's not too long before we can go back. My friends have just moved there and there is a park and ride very close by to them so I'm looking forward at some stage to spending a few days exploring some of the colleges.

We've got that pencilled in for January, including some punting. Rental car is booked, hotel is booked .... let's just hope lockdown 2.0 doesn't extend till then!

Thanks for the TR, good to read about some of the places we've just been to again. Highly rate Matlock and definitely recommend to people passing through.

Absolutely wonderful trip report. Thank you for taking time to craft it, including all the beautiful photographs. Your DOH lounge on the return leg - Al Mourjan ? spelling , is their J lounge - good to transit in. Again - really enjoyed all the memories.
