The lounge has pass it's first acid test with the cancelled QF128 last night.

Michael the bar tender has kept everyone happy and deserve a big thumbs up. All staff there were very professional and understand, making sure all our needs for food and drinks were filled quickly.

The lounge is very nice and the people working there has push it up another level.

Just in time for my 6hr stopover in HKG.
For people with experience, between 1500 and 2100 is it likely the 2 of us will have more space here than in The Wing business or the Cathay lounges? With plenty of time I assume we'll visit both anyway.

Great review! Got my first work trip back in July so hoping enough time to do a quick lounge hop and give QF another chance. Used to just go to CX but might need to revisit QF.

Will be transitting Hkg twice in September....my go to lounges will be Pier F if reopened, then Wing F, and then Qf lounge.

Im similar in that I usually do wing to rehydrate from the express train at the champagne bar and get my shirt pressed then trot down to pier to get my steps up and a quick back and head massage. Pier can be a pain as QF usually leave for the closer in gates so work up a sweat when boarding as usually do hkg in summer months.

Not sure where transit spits you out but maybe start with QF and see if any noticeable difference after reopening.

Hi everyone, I will be visiting in Sept. I’ve always visited the Pier and looking forward to seeing the new lounge. In particular I am super keen on trying the yum cha trolley. Just wondering if this is available all day or only specific times of the day? I will be flying out at 10pm.

I think they roll out the yum cha trolley a few hours before QF128 departs, then put it away again once the Qantas flight has boarded. I could be wrong, though.

In the hay days, I would go to the QF lounge first for the shower because it was right after immigration, then head to CX first to have the meal, because there is always a queue for the CX showers in First / even J lounges.

I think Cathay food will be always much better than Qantas lounge but Qantas win with good wine..

In short, the service.

In the Qantas lounge, I was warmly welcomed in and the staff were really, really friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food and drinks were also excellent.

In the Cathay lounge, none of the staff even made eye contact.

the review seemed to give the impression that the QF lounge is the same old same old .... so for me it will be the Cathay Wing as my go to. My wife preferred the customer service in the Wing where they would take your baggage and make sure you were seated in an area to your liking and the food had better options

QF HK lounge will win in human interactions.

CX F will win in the food, Cabana (if you can get it), and foot massage (when it opens eventually).
Also, the food offered in the QF lounge is something that you can easily get in HK, like Dim Sims and BBQ pork rice.

But I cannot find Cathay delight anywhere else (on the ground I mean).

No unless the Cathay flights they're booked on are QF codeshare flights.

Currently CX operated QF codeshare flights are offered to select cities in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, India. There is also the added thing that they need to be departing between 2:30pm and 7:30pm (the current lounge opening hours).

Echoing comments on the exceptionally friendly and attentive service in the HK lounge. I'd go as far as to say that it (as well as SIN F) puts MEL/SYD F both to shame despite not having an à la carte service.

The buffet food service was winding down by the time I arrived, but staff were still offering (recommending) yum cha trolley items, S&P squid and BBQ pork.

Went in just a couple of days before they officially opened, service was fantastic....mind you there wasn't many people. Both the hired sodexo and Qantas staff were great to have a chat and yarn with.
The salt and pepper squid needed work - it was soggy (unlike the one I had in the London lounge which was still crispy 10 minutes in), hopefully they got it right before Mr Perry came along. Was already stuffed from visiting and tasting 2 other Cathay lounges so I didn't try the buffer and yum cha selection (but they did looked a little lacklustre)
Also tried the bbq pork with the pickles at the bar, the pork was nice but I asked if they could gimme the tub of pickles! coughtails were great but the wine selection was a little disappointing. The Cathay lounges seemed to have a better wine selection.
Just a quick question if anyone knows, pre-covid did they serve Roast duck?

I went on the 30th and the squid was excellent. Seems that the bar won’t do proper coughtails as I was told a martini was too alcoholic… They managed to make one at The Pier but it was served in a rocks glass with ice!
