A sense of Deja vu ....

Referringto 'Deja Vu' I am reminded of what Airpoints has become ... in 2009 I would get 85 for a MEL-LAX trip in Y-, it's now 15 ... and likely less next week.

And did they also enhance once in a life time generous Any Seat awards with Double SCs at the same time?

And did the relevant thread on New Zealand Frequent Flyer reach 1,000 posts in <48 hours?

That's true. I lose out on points. In this world Qantas expects everyone to have a direct earn CC for points, and while I do use QCASH, I have no income to be able to apply for a CC, so am thus deemed not loyal enough ;)
The only QF earning CC I am able to get due to the credit card application requirements is the ANZ base level AX/Visa, and due to a change ANZ did to their online banking last October, I can't access the account.

No to the first as they went to an all ASA type scheme for NZ flights last decade - no Status (SP) earn though on redemptions.

Strange - can you direct me to "New Zealand Frequent Flyer"?

This is the only change to redemption ear/levels since may 2005.

Yes this is true, but certainly not the only changes that have caused some outrage/hyperbole amongst AFF members (eg loss of ATA, Jetstarisation etc), which I was referring to in terms of Deja vu!

And whilst redemption levels have not changed since May 2005, the value from redemptions, particularly in the more readily available economy cabin, has decreased over time due to increases in fuel surcharges - in some ways removing any need to increase redemption levels.

I do agree though, having used (but now forgotten about) NZ Airpoints over the years, the approach QF has taken does have its similarities.

Re: December 2005 ...

The Zone 6** was good for a round trip within Oz of up to 11000km - I booked several. One example was MEL-PER-BME-AYQ-ASP-CNS-BNE-MEL in bysiness for 37½K points.

That *WAS* good value. In '98 I booked MEL-ADL-ASP-SYD-CNS-TSV-xBNE-MEL in J for 37.5K points, compared with 32K in Y, it was a no-brainer ... I thought I'd done well all these years ....

Regards,

BD
