A summary of all Qantas Business Class seats

The bulkhead rows (11 & 16) offer more room for your feet when sleeping.

11 E/F will do it for me.
interesting to see the comparison to LATAM business

The biggest challenge for LATAM is to have the aircraft turn up. The times I booked that airline, the plane never made it (Spruce luck?)

The upside here is you can get sent on ANZ/QF instead for the low LATAM price and get ORC.

Agree totally with this!

Also, the Table provided in the AFF newsletter article is incorrect.

The 737s operating out of Perth that I flew on recently have cloth seats, not leather. The leather seats are for eg SYD-AKL. Also the Perth 737s do not have entertainment screens.

So damn right the price should be much lower. Currently Qantas charges as much for return eg PER-MEL as some airlines charge for J flights to Europe or USA.
That isn’t entirely correct. It is luck of the draw, and this is where The Qantas Source website used to be amazing. Please do note I haven’t seen the referenced table, however:
  • The IFE screens are in the later 737’s (I.e the Recaro seats)
  • The leather seats from memory are the old Jet Connect birds, however they are now VH registered and fly all over the shop. I was on one of these flying back BNE-PER recently (up the back but still).
  • The 737’s domestically are generally scheduled based on where they need to be. It isn’t uncommon out of PER to see one of the newer birds heading up north on a short hop, where as the flight to BNE or SYD is left with one of the older birds with streaming IFE.
The only thing you can guarantee with the 737’s is the level of amenity is luck of the draw on the day

I thought they had re-upholstered all the business seats in the domestic 737 fleet with that maroon leather. It might have been part of the refit many years back? (the one that introduced tiny toilets in Y).

Even the older 737's with the millennium business seating these days are leather, not sure I've seen one that's cloth in a long time.

It’s been a while since I’ve got that far up front, so I couldn’t tell you to be sure, but you may be right 🤷🏼‍♂️

I thought that's how they arrived.

I recall Ansett was blue, and QF was the off-burgundy colour.

The 737 business class is a pretty bad joke for us in Perth. It should be half the price of an A320 business class seat.
QF would be smarter to remove the 12 business class seats and replace them with economy seats with more legroom! Id rather pay for the legroom than those super expensive seats they pretend to be BC

Please do not give QF any ideas to move to a eurobusiness model.

Yep I told my partner about what our inter-Europe narrowbody Business class seats on AY / AF / BA would be like - ie. Economy seats but with the middle seat blocked out - she was like "WTF are you serious?"

I think she was expecting at least QF 737 style seats (ie. wider, more legroom) - which I probably would have expected as well.

But oh well.. it is what it is.

Can't believe I just paid for QF J on the SYD-AKL route in a 737; it will be interesting to see the comparison to LATAM business on the same route.

You are clearly well-heeled, as they say!

It would be a fair assessment that any (hard product) comparison between a QF738 and a LAN789 would be voluminous, and then the challenge would flip to noting the similarities!

However, the soft product comparison will be interesting. We know QF and their Board have been napping and counting their pennies in this area. I am not sufficiently briefed on what my Huaso mates have been up to on their post covid journey, the key differentiation will lie with the soft product and how that could become influential to travel decisions for members of AFF.

I look forward to your TR!

Flight was kinda important to lock in, and I can't wait forever for a DSC, besides it should be enough SCs to level up this year for the first time ever.

Far from well heeled, LATAM is on classic reward, QF was via Amex travel using the $450 credit. The pain is minimised 😉

Will do a TR for sure, challenging myself to do Fifth Freedom flights over the coming years as something different

I'm on QF127 SYD to HKG but I've just noticed that the seat map is 1-2-1. Is it possible that they're using a mixture of refurbed and non-refurbed A380s on this route?
