A toast to Virgin Australia, some fond memories

Has anyone mentioned Row 5 on the old J fitout of the 777 yet? The 'rock star' row. 5A & C was actually my first trip on VA J and it was for my NYC honeymoon for wife #2 (yeah, well I don't think I'm going around again for the 3rd this time :p). With the curtain pulled, you had a lot of privacy. Wow, a lot of privacy... ahhh. Anyway. Sure the seats had gotten a little tatty by the end but there was still a bit to like about that old J fitout, I ended up flying it quite a few times.

I never had the chance to fly the 777, but enjoyed numerous 330 transcons in the business. They will be sadly missed.
I never had a chance to fly the A330 or A320 but have been in the 777 (and have a nice pic of the coughpit). Even had one segment in J (upgrademe bid.. where the cost of the bid was more than the cost of the two original return Y tickets.. but it was still 25% of what the actual J fare would have cost).

Gotta say, there's a lot of spin in there but a lot to possibly like. Closure of some lounges sad but unsurprising.

Yeah at least on face value there wasn't anything too alarming that I didn't already expect. A year ago I'd be in tears but as well all know a lot has changed since.

That's not to say once the ball is rolling they start "enhancing".

An official farewell to VA1 as it flies off into the sunset... well a couple of days ago was it's official funeral!

I used your product heavily in the last two years and you were a good product mostly, but a lousy business sadly.

This thread has probably run its life now that VA1 has formally been wound up....

Time to focus on whatever Bain/VA2 ends up churning out!
