I'm looking at booking SYD-DOH-MLA (Malta / a new route starting in June) - it shows the flight as being an A320 and checking seatmaps I see there are 2 versions - one has lie-flat in business, the other not. Is there any way I can tell which one it is without going though the whole booking process. If it's not lie flat I won't book but will go via Rome instead.

The one that doesn’t have lie flats has two extra rows in Y, ending at 30. The lie flat one ends at row 28.
With a short route like this it may be a lottery and you won’t know until closer to time which aircraft you are on.

I flew OTP-DOH on one with the lie flats and up until a day or two before it was showing the other type of aircraft on Expert Flyer.

Subject to the caveats mentioned by Princess Fiona, google flights will indicate the type of seating currently scheduled. Picking a random date in July (the 12th) it says it’s a ‘lie flat seat’.

I’d almost expect that given they’re asking AUD10000 return for the DOH-MLA return flight! (presumably much cheaper if not originating in DOH!)

OK thanks - I do see the GF "lie flat seats" comment but seatmaps dot com shows the other version of the A320 - I'll give QR a call. I saw the pricing for this leg, I am hoping to get an award fight using VA once my booking window opens (of course the DOH-MLA leg may not be avaibale so my backup plan is to fly to ROM which seems to be readily available as an award.

I have found the most accurate seat map resource around at the moment is Hola - AeroLOPA | Detailed aircraft seat plans

Agree! But that site doesn’t tell you the seat map for your specific flight, which is the case in the link posted by the OP. It drills down to flight specific information.

Due to occasional inaccuracies, I don't trust it - I get more precise results with Aerolopa and working it out for myself. Moreover the UI is far simpler and I don't get hit with ads ...

Which brings us back to the OP’s original question… is there any way to find out without having to go through the booking process to get the seat map provided by the airline? (potentially ‘no’)
