A330-300 Domestic Business

IIRC QF has already trialled the A330 on their bread and butter legs (the golden triangle) a while ago and they had issues turning the aircraft around fast enough....

I thought that was a fuel loading issue with the first A332's Qantas ordered - they just couldn't be refilled quick enough between domestic turnarounds. I didn't think it also affected the A333's, but could be wrong.

I had heard that the issue had been resolved.

that Joyce seems to indicate that Qantas may possibly walk away from the 787 contract at anytime,

No....I think its more of a 'could' then 'may'

Probably just putting a bit of indirect pressure on Boeing to get their stuff together...

Fuel and passengers, being a larger A/C they took longer to load with people also. I am sure in time the plan will to be have them back in the domestic fleet once the orange tail finishes with them and gets there 787's but that plan is almost out the window i think now :( years late and who knows.....

Which is possibly the reason for Joyce saying in the business spectator interview " For example, the 787s are now so delayed that we in our contract could walk away from each of those aircraft, the first 15, as they come up on a month by month basis over the next year or so and that could reduce capital expenditure significantly"
So he's basically saying ,'Well the planes are late and we can use the money elsewhere so we'll decide on a month by month basis whether we take delivery '

I was looking forward to my Skybed domestic flight until it was switched to a 2-2 config something or other...

It is my understanding that QF took delivery of 5 new 332's, of which 3 were done on domestic config and 2 on international. The international config'd ones DO have skybeds, I know this as I've flown on one SYD-PER.

The domestic configs (upon in less than 1 hour I shall be doing J in, SYD-PER) are 2-2-2 and millenium seating. More than comfortable for the 5 hour flight IMHO

In the end, it's still business class; so don't complain. I'm sure there are many people in why who would HAPPILY swap with you.

2 were in domestic config (EBJ and EBK)

Yes please. Got to the gate earlier this evening and they were waiting for me with a new boarding pass. :o I thought fantastic here comes an op-up but the lady said "We have a new boarding pass for you but don't worry sir you are still in the same row". I was given a boarding pass for 23D instead of 23B as it was one of those weird 763s with 1-2-2 in business and a crew rest where 23AB are normally.

Business class was full so I think I would have gotten the op-up when you heard my name paged in the SYD J lounge before I arrived. :(
