A330 to B737 Downgrade

In my extensive experience on this subject, QF are far more dismissive when they downgrade from an A330 to 73H...

I just got a phone call just now my 0520 departure tomorrow morning PER-MEL was downgraded from A332 to B737.
Was a reward booking in "The Business"

Was impressed they actually called to advise of the equipment change.
Straight up was offered 15,000 points "compensation" refund.
Which I accepted as is a relief they offered it straight up and don't have to file a complaint myself otherwise.

After hanging up though I wished I had of asked what points refund they would have given me if I volunteered to be moved me back down to economyx as really do not see any point in J on the 737.

I guess this must still be a fairly frequent occurrence?

I noticed two days ago (whilst checking a booking for later in April) that both my outbound/inbound PER-MEL flights in August which I had selected during the double status credits offer and upgraded to business using points have been replaced with 737s.

Tempted to swap flights, but the remaining options aren't great for me in terms of timing.

Exactly - and that's what I pointed out to them in my complaint, i.e. I had booked the flight specifically because it was the A330 with "The Business" and there was absolutely no comparison between that and the 737 offering, especially given what you pay for a PER-SYD flight in J!

Unfortunately they will just say that they are happy to offer you an award J seat on an alternative flight if it's available. Otherwise they would offer any available seat if you weren't on an award flight.
