Hi

Got a real good deal Lon-Mel J class return under $4k and selected seat 24A what experience does any one have of this eat and would your recomend it?

Thank you form your comments and advise.

Hi unfortunately all those seats are takne so this seemed to be a better option other than possible slow service but then one can always walk up and get a drink from the self serve bar and relax a little in the lounge area :D

Sat in 24B whilst partner was in 24A. Very roomy exit row seats however the meal service can take literally forever to get to you, well it felt that way. Also when the carts are in the aisle then it blocks your access to the bathroom / lounge up front so you might have to dodge and weave past it. I have been in 13B, 19B and 24B and I would rank them in order as 13B, 24B, 19B. Oh and I flew economy seat 50A for the first time a few weeks ago and bulkhead rows were nice for what it is but ............ economy is still economy no matter how you look at it  Thankfully the fantastic QF CSM and crew allowed me to duck into my partner's 5A seat for a bit and have a drink or two! If you're in F, then 5A is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry nice!!!!

Hi Thanks for that response I am flying F again on the 22nd and have seat 3k which is my favourite in First I have usually gotten 12 e when in Business so wanted to get some feed back on 24 before confirming the seat. One comment was the window being small how did you find that?

many thanks

Hi Keep an eye on seats as you only need 1 pax to change to get an opening in the front section, it that is what you prefer.

Have checked the UK web site & showing 4k GBP at the moment OS fares are def worth chasing. Be interested to know the date you saw the spec

Ex HK specials much better as well

Cheers

I'm doing this in August. I used a one way MEL-LHR JASA as a positioning flight and am then booking returns LHR-MEL. (I'm in the UK at least 6 times a year) Coming in at about AUS6,500. (Is the 4K in the OP GBP?)

The fair was booked some 6 or so weeks back and it was a special offer that they have on could have gone First Class for example for around AUS $7K at that time. It seems they have these sales around 3 or 4 times a year and that is when I usually pounce and take advantage but because I am taking my partner this time opted for J class but had I been travelling solo would have gone F

We had 24AB recently on QF93 MEL/LAX which is an exit row seat upper deck on the A380. There is one F/A who sits opposite you for take-off and landing.

As it's at the rear section of J the only rows aft of row 25 are PE so you don't get a lot of traffic going back & forth so & it feels more private - a poor mans 'Emerald City' (rows 11-13). ;) You also don't get people standing around your seats chatting, mind you they tell you in a PA that congregating in groups is not permitted.

Row's 24 & 25 are furthest from the loos as there are 4 J loos in the behind row 13 & 2 in front of row 11. I don't see that being a problem unless someone had mobility issues or maybe the elderly.

Whilst I'd say there's no such thing as a bad seat in J on the A380, if given a choice I would opt for 25AB or one of the other rows forward of that as you have 3 windows to look out of plus 3 of the lower side storage bins in addition to the overhead storage.

There is no escape slide that encroaches on leg room in the window like on B747's so the only minor issue is that you have to look back slightly to see out the window. If you had other rows even the person sitting in the aisle seat would be able to see something. That's only my opinion as both myself & SO are 'window' people.

One cannot generalise about 'Emerald City', had a return MEL-SIN in row 13 and it was damn noisy with galley clatter and toilet activity. Row 16 though is a total shocker and to be avoided, a total misdesign of the galley/toilet area here. :(
