You're right in that my left and rights were reversed. The issue with 16l in Sydney is that it also has a displaced threshold, so that 2438 mtres is not available for landing. And i simply never saw the logic in putting a Dash 8 on to the long runway, whilst giving a limiting runway to a 767.

And 2700 mtres is short from my point of view.....

And then there's the dreaded eternal taxi back from the far end of 16L (start of 34R). Well, at least it's not as bad as NRT - a 2500m strip out in the middle of nowhere.
