I wonder what is happening with the A380 and some recent issues, perhaps its purely coincidental but QF source mentions the following high amount of issues for a small fleet http://www.theqantassource.com/index.html:

[h=2]5th September 2011 - VH-OQB Operates Delayed QF10.[/h] A380 VH-OQB turned around from the inbound QF31 to operate last night’s delayed QF10 from London Heathrow - Singapore - Melbourne as QF10D this morning. Tonight’s QF10 will also be delayed until 0930 tomorrow indicating that VH-OQJ will not be repaired and able to return to service today.

15th August 2011 - VH-OQC QF10 Delay.

Tonight’s QF10 departure London Heathrow- Singapore - Melbourne has been delayed until tomorrow due to a technical problem with scheduled aircraft A380 VH-OQC.

25th August 2011 - VH-OQB back in Australia.

Airbus A380 VH-OQB, out of service in Los Angeles since 15th August arrived in Melbourne this morning as QF6003, having departed Los Angeles on the evening of 23 August and took up service as QF9 to Singapore and London Heathrow. The aircraft underwent an engine change to the #2 engine in Los Angeles following an oil leak in the transfer gear box.

On another site I was reading of much excitement (at least for the OP of the thread there!) that 3 QF 380s were to be on the ground at LHR plus 1 EK plus 1 SQ all at the same time. I wondered what had happened.

Much like early adopters of new model IT/technologically advanced products, the first batch of customers usually double up as guinea pigs for the manufacturers.

My parents flight over here is still an A388 however the flight home has now been changed to a 744. It changed around 2 months ago and hasn't changed back yet... could be related?

I was going to fly QF11 to LAX tomorrow, however last weekend it was subbed out to a 744 (given loads no chance of an UG from Y+ to J) so flying today instead... (and still showing as an A380)... and a nice seat in the "Emerald City' already confirmed...

We flew to LA on the same A380 that blew its engine, less than a week before it blew! Here is a picture of THAT engine the week before the accident.
The A380 is a beautiful plane, so quiet compared with all other planes. And we have booked our flight specifically next year to fly on it again.

We are on QF11 today as well. Was in 'emerald city' before our points upgrade to F came along. Maybe you are in our old seats? Middle two seats in row 12?

No, I was hiding in 13A, although I am sure the older couple in those seats were very happy with you vacating them...

I normally try and go for a walk downstairs (not the pointy end) yet didnt this trip, however, J & Y+ were totally full, according to EF, Y looked 60-70% full, but that was at about T-24

Based on the few people I saw in the F-Lounge prior to the flight, and those that were on QF11, would I be guessing right that you were sitting near the window to the left side of the dining area, and one of your party partook in a spa treatment when in the lounge? (and no... I am not a voyeur, just very aware of what is going on around me...)
