AA award booking on QF but not showing in My trips on AA site

Curiouser and Curiouser - I used check my trip and the AA reference didn't come up with anything but then tried with my QF reference number (that is now in my bookings on the QF website) and came up with all the correct details. I went back to the AA site and click on my trips - said I didn't have any reservations but when I do a search on Find my reservation and fill out Qantas and the date it all appears and says ticketed - I might give AA a call if I have time - thanks for all the help

If you could find it on AA with the flight details - did you check that you had the correct AA reference written down?

In any event that just sounds like an IT issue and it sounds like your booking is fine - you successfully pulled it up on AA (just via a different method). I am less concerned now.

I believe you can enter the AA reference directly in the QF site nowadays (if you look in MMB the reference will be the QF one).
I disagree. QF and AA systems are different, don't communicate with each other and this does not work. I just tried entering one of my AA award bookings on QF metal on the QF site and an error came up.

The FINNAIR method is so-so. I've had several bookings where that does not work.

I've used RJ.com several times and have never had a problem switching numbers back and forth on both QF and AA ticket stock. I don't think I've heard any bad feedback about it from others either, FWIW...

It works for me. I have made 3 AA redemptions in the last 6 months. In each case if I enter the AA record locator in QF MMB it brings up the booking, along with the QF record locator which is different to the AA one.

I have then been able to do all the normal things with the booking, even including booking limousine transfer to the airport.

I have also found this to be the case. The AA record locator doesn't work on Check My Trip, but the QF one does. As others have said, the important thing is the e-ticket number; Check My Trip will display this if it has been ticketed. I would worry if I couldn't find it there.

Wow, I stand corrected - tried another two and it works as normal. However they were ex-Australia.
The first one in point was ex-USA.
Still, it provides a data point that using the AA PNR on the QF website will not always work. Nothing wrong with getting the QF PNR anyway.

Two of mine were ex Australia, one ex Europe. I agree, I like to get the QF PNR.

QF PNR is from the Amadeus GDS.

AA PNR is from the SABRE GDS.

Thanks for everyone's assistance - finally got around to call AA and they suggested that I change from the Australian Website to the UK or US and put my details in and it came up fine - all sorted.

FWIW, I only use the Australian AA website as a last resort.

Thanks guys, for someone who is constantly juggling AA BA QF AY metal and code shares there is a lot of useful information in this thread, should make a sticky thread.

AA booking on AA.com (US) with QFF number

Nothing showed under "My Trips" but it could be retrieved using the AA record locator.

This is different from my past experience where all (US) flights were listed with QFF number under My Trips

Does anyone see this ?

Not a big issue as it can be retrieved and seen to be "ticketed" on xx_xMonth2014.

I am not fussed but thought would report to AFF to share.

BTW, I plugged the AA Record Locator into Virtually There but it does not work.

Exactly my findings with a regular booking on aa.com (not an award). I looked everywhere for an option to save my itin to My Trips but for the life of me find it if it's there. I guess it's to do with the fact my QF number is in the booking and not AA.

Pretty sure last year I could see the bookings in My Trips by default.

It used to work like this quite well until about two years ago. One just needed to access an AA booking once while logged on under your AAdvantage number and it would be remembered, even if your QFF number was in the booking.

It was in later 2012 this facit became somewhat flaky and for the last few months has not worked at all - I now need to enter names and booking reference each time. (Thank goodness for autocomplete.)

Last time it worked well - for me - was in November 2013.

This flaky booking was made in Feb 2014.

It was under My Trips for about 1-2 weeks and then disappeared.

I wonder if the QFF has anything to do with it.

Maybe not, but I don't know.

Standard behaviour now.

I had a few bookings originally made under AA number.

Once switched to QF number - they're off the list.
