leave the postcode blank when booking online, simple. The postcode box says USA/Canada only

This has been the case for me for a very long time. I once entered my postcode and the whole thing failed. I was lucky getting through to their tech support (a number shown on the page) who immediately pointed out that the zip code field is intended only for USA/Canada. Not sure why others have to fudge with imaginary postcodes and whatnot.

WRT the booking fee being waived, I was recently booking some tickets using compensation vouchers for delayed flights, and the agent tried to charge the fees ($80pp for a $90 flight). I advised that I have no way of paying for it except for over the phone as you can't use the vouchers online. I was refused, however she mentioned that if i 'hold the reservation online and then call me to purchase it' the fee would be waived. This was the first time I noticed that you can hold reservations on the AA website.

When I was booking two subsequent compo-flights, the agents all initially refused but gave in after I explained the above.

how do you pick your seats once the ticket because "ticketed" status, for qantas metal on AA points?

Thanks for the tip, will try that, interestingly only one of two pax in the same pnr got ticketed. So frustrating

What's described on the title to this thread has just happened to me. Not sure why. I've booked with AA probably a dozen times usually no issues. I'm on the phone now trying to suss it out. The miles have been pulled from my account and US$35 deducted for the booking fee but the taxes/carrier-surcharges (about US$200) was never deducted but I'm unsure why. Usually everything happens at once.

Has anyone's noticed that since the US merger ticketing occurs within 24 hours? I am amazed as I expected 5 days like past experience.

Not only ticketing but also points purchasing and sharing. Used to take several days but now it's instant.

Hahahaha, yes. I made a purchase for my partner. I told him to wait 3 days. 1 minute later points appeared so proceeded to make our reservations.

It makes sense given that points.com does SPG and other points.com programs are instant purchase.
