My last attempt to use my Australian credit card failed on three occasions - until I suggested the agent place a zero at the end of my "zip" code. It worked.

But IIRC you told the agent it was an Aussie card and you used an Aussie address?

Perhaps my memory fails me - I'm too lazy to search

Correct.

When I originally made the booking over the phone with the agent in the US, I was asked if I had a US credit card. When I said no I was told I'd need to call AA in Australia. I hang up and phoned back a couple of hours later saying I had a reservation on hold that I needed to pay for. I gave the credit card number and my address and when the agent asked if it was an Australian credit card I said yes. There was no issue at that point. But 48 hours or so passed and it still hadn't ticketed. I phoned back and spent about 40 minutes on the phone (Skype, fortunately) where apparently three supervisors were working on the problem (whatever it was). The agent knew my card was Australian. It was pushed through again for ticketing but once again it never happened. I phoned back a third time, gave my credit card number several times while the agent attempted to process it but still nothing. At that point I suggested adding a zero to the zip and it seemed to do the trick.

4 bookings done online or through the US call centre now, I put them on hold and ring the Aus number. Tell them that the website won't accept the payment and wait for them to tell me there is an $80 charge, I ask them to talk to the supervisor that I want the fee waived as its the websites fault. Has been credited each time.Only problem was my last booking where they entered my first name as my last a vice versa. Only took 5 days to fix lol
