I just heard back from AA finally:
- Apologising for the delay in response
- Apologising for the stuff up and acknowledging it was AA's mistake
- Confirming that they had made the unrequested changes, and only contacted QF after rebooked onto final flight (ie. After it was too late to get it fixed by QF).
- Refunding the difference between a Business and Economy redemption, plus some "extra" miles for the inconvenience
- Assuring me that the feedback will be taken on board
- Apologising once again
So, I have to say that it was quite a reasonable response and wasn't the fob-off I was half expecting.
Naturally my preference would have been for the issue to never have occurred, but it probably remedies the situation as best as possible after the fact.
